8U Information

8U will have a draft for Spring 2015 season.

 

 DRAFT 

  1.  Each coach will be allowed to have up to 4 players "safe". These players do not have to attend the tryout.
  2. The "safe" players must be communicated to all the other coaches prior to the beginning of the tryout. 
  3. Any coaches that come to the draft table with less than 4 players will continue to draft players until they reach 4 and then the other coaches will enter the draft.
  4. Your child is not guaranteed a spot on a team, when there is a draft.

 

 Game Rule Change

  1. Players will get 5 pitches with unlimited fouls on the 5th pitch. 

 

 

8U ALL-STAR PROCESS

 

  1. The coach of the team that wins the league will have first option to accept or decline to be the All-Star coach. 
  2. If they decline, then the 2nd place coach has the option and so forth.
  3. The All-Star coach will pick his/her assistant coaches.
  4. There will only be one team of 11 players.

 

 

The All Star selection is based on the coaches being objective about their choices while maintaining the integrity of the game. Politics and favoritism have no business being a part of this process. A lottery system helps to solve the problem. This process is meant to be a starting point for the selection process.

 

  • Only head coaches will be allowed at the meeting, unless he/she cannot make it and the commissioner is notified in advance that only the assistant will attend.

 

 

  • If a division has only 2 teams:

  1. Each coach will nominate up to 7 players.

  2. Of those 7, the top 4 will be automatically be put on the team.

  3. The balance of 6 players will be put in a hat and drawn for the remaining 3 spots.

 

  • If a division has 3 teams:

  1. Each coach brings 4.

  2. The top 3 of each team are automatically are on the team.

  3. The balance of 3 players are drawn for the remaining 2 spots.

 

  • If a division has 4 teams:

  1. Each coach brings 3 players.

  2. The top 2 from each team are automatically on the team.

  3. The balance of 4 players are drawn for the remaining 3 spots.



  • If a division has 5 teams:

  1. Each coach will bring 3 players.

  2. The #1 player is automatically on the team.

  3. The balance of 10 players are drawn for the remaining 6 spots.

 

  • If a division has 6 teams:

  1. Each coach will bring 3 players.

  2. The top #1 only is automatically on the team.

  3. The remaining 12 players will be drawn for the remaining 4 spots.

 

  • All coaches will be required to bring 1-2 alternates in addition to the first nominations.

 

  •  If a coach feels that they do not have the minimum number of players that are “All Star Material”, then the other coach’s alternates will be put into a hat to be drawn.
