RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

The Willows Swim Club expects the cooperation of all its members in enforcing and abiding by the Rules and Regulations.  Violation of these rules should be reported to the Pool Management.  Violations of these rules will be dealt with according to the by-laws of the Willows Swim Club and could result in the suspension of all membership privileges.  These Rules and Regulations may be revised or additional rules established at any time by the Rules Committee or the Board of Trustees.  The Pool Managers may modify, void, or otherwise change existing rules at any time in matters of health and safety.

I.          CLUB HOURS AND OPERATIONS

 

      A.  The Club will open on the Saturday prior to Memorial Day at 12:00 noon and will close on Labor Day, with the exception of inclement weather.

 

      B.  Pool hours are 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM with the following exceptions:

 

            1. From Memorial Day until the close of South Brunswick public schools, the pool will be open Monday through Thursday from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM,  Saturday 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

 

2. The Pool Manager, in conjunction with the Board of Trustees, may designate hours for special events, night swimming, and extended seasons when applicable.

 

            3.   The pool may be closed by maintenance operations, health conditions, bad or inclement weather, or any reason deemed sufficient by the Pool Managers.

 

            4. The main pool is closed during swim team home and/or sponsored events.

 

II.         MEMBERSHIP

 

A.   A Family membership is defined as one or two adults (if two adults they must be married to each other or live in the same house as domestic partners) and their unmarried natural, legally adopted or legally fostered children under the age of 26. It is the responsibility of the member to submit a change of address to the Membership Trustee.

 

      B.  No member will be permitted to use the facilities of the Club until the annual maintenance fee had been paid, a photo ID has been issued or updated with the current validation sticker, and a signature sample is on file at the office (See Section II, F).  Annual maintenance fees not paid by April 1 will be subject to the late fees stated on the Bonded Membership Dues Notice.

 

      C.  Entrance to the Willows Swim Club will be denied to individuals who cannot establish their membership when requested by Pool Staff (authorized person or manager).  Any individual who has entered the Swim Club may be asked to leave if proof of membership cannot be established when requested by an authorized person.

     

      D. Membership classifications

 

            1.  Bonded family membership - voting membership with full pool privileges.

 

2.  Single membership - non-voting membership with full pool privileges, available after five (5) years bonded membership.

 

3.   Empty Nest -- non-voting membership with full pool privileges, maximum two (2) members per household, available after five (5) years bonded membership.

     

4.  Senior membership - non-voting membership with full pool privileges, maximum two (2) members per household, one of which must be sixty years of age or older, available after five (5) years bonded membership.

 

5.  7-Day Special –non-voting status with full pool privileges for household members only.  No entrance to the pool on holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day).  Relatives may only be brought in as paying guests Monday through Friday.

 

6.  5-Day Special - –non-voting status with full pool privileges for household members only.  No entrance to pool Saturday, Sunday or holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day).  5-Day Special memberships may come to the pool after 5:00 PM on weekends as paying guests only.  Relatives may only be brought in as paying guests Monday through Friday.

 

7.      5-Day August Special - –non-voting status with full pool privileges for household members only beginning Month of August to end of season.  No entrance to pool Saturday, Sunday or holidays (Labor Day).  5-Day August Special memberships may come to the pool after 5:00 PM on weekends as paying guests only.  Relatives may only be brought in as paying guests Monday through Friday.

8.      7-Day August Special - –non-voting status with full pool privileges for household members only beginning Month of August to end of season.  No entrance to pool on holidays (Labor Day).  Relatives may only be brought in as paying guests.

 

E.    Age privileges

                 

All age designations include members who will attain that age during the calendar year.

 

            1.   14 years and older - May bring in younger household members or guests of any age.

 

            2.   13 years and older - May bring in younger household members of any age or guests who are 10 years old or older.

 

            3.   10 years or older - Children who are 10 may come to the pool without parental supervision at the discretion of Pool Managers. They may bring in another child who is 10 years old or older.

 

F.   Every member age 5 or older must have a photo identification card.  This card must be presented each time the member visits the Willows.  Cards are to be updated every two years through age 17, and every four years thereafter.  There is a fee to replace cards lost during the operating season.

 

            In addition, a signature card will be on file at the front desk, to be filled out annually on the member’s first seasonal visit. Signature cards can be filled out upon verification of dues payment, and will be used as a back-up if the identification card is not available.

 

      G.  Members are responsible for the behavior of all children under age 18.  In     addition, all children 9 and under must be supervised by an adult other than a pool employee.

 

      H.  Alternate caregivers

 

            1.   Upon application to and approval of management, with a minimum of one week’s prior notice, a Club member may have a baby-sitter for a pre-arranged period of time in lieu of themselves.  This privilege should be used only when adult membership cannot be present.  The baby-sitter would not be charged a guest fee and will have full pool privileges with the exception of bringing in guests.  Baby-sitters must be at least 15 years of age.

     

2. Nannies/au pairs who live in the family household full time for at least 6 months must be registered with Membership Trustee.  They are considered part of the “membership.”

 

I.     UPON APPLICATION TO AND APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, a Club member may have a “house guest” for the season.  The fees for each guest shall be $200.00 for adults and $100.00 for children.  “House guest” is a person residing at the house a member for more than one (1) week.  (See II, Section D for Membership guest restrictions.)

 

III.        GUESTS

 

Any non-member over the age of 4 will be considered a GUEST.  Guests 60 years of age and older will pay half of the guest fee (See Section III, F).

 

      A.  GUESTS shall be granted admittance to the Club as the guest of any Club member not more than six (6) times during the swim season, and the Club member must be at least 10 years old.  A person at least sixty years of age will not be subject to the six visits rule or the holiday rule.

 

      B.  Residents of North Brunswick, South Brunswick, Franklin Park and Princeton are considered local guests and are allowed as guests everyday, weekends included, with the exception of Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.  

 

 

      C.  In order to gain entrance to the Club, a guest must show identification (unless under the age of 17).  All guests must give their name and address and sign their name in guest registry book.  The host member must also sign their name in the registry book. The member must be at the swim club the entire time the guest is at the swim club.

 

D.  The conduct of a guest shall at all times be the sole and direct responsibility of the host member.

            1.   Willows Cash Cards are available at the front desk for $25.00 and $ 50.00.  These cards have a value of $30.00 and $ 60.00 respectively, and can be used for guest fees or for purchasing Willows recreational equipment (goggles, tennis balls, etc.).

 

            2.   After 5:00 PM. the daily guest fees shall be half price.

 

3.    Senior (aged 60) guests are half price at all times.

 

F.    The guest fees set forth in III - F shall apply to guests using the handball and/or tennis courts.

 

IV.       PARTIES

 

All parties of more than 15 guests must be scheduled in person, in advance through the Pool Management to ensure proper staffing.  Applications for these parties are available on the web site and in the office and will be taken beginning Opening Day.  Any pool party may be canceled at the discretion of the Willows Swim Club Management.  The host member is responsible for any damage to Club property.

 

A.   Parties during pool hours are limited to 35 partygoers (guests and members).  In case of multiple parties, a total of no more than 50 party-goers will be scheduled during any given time period.  Pool, pavilion and recreational facilities must be shared with the general membership.  Local guests are restricted on  holidays (See III, Section A, B).  Attendance at a day party DOES count as a visit and will be subject to the 6 visit rule.  Day parties require a $25.00 refundable clean-up deposit plus the usual guest fees as applicable.

B.   Evening parties (parties not during pool hours) will begin at 8:30 and must end by 11:00 PM.  There is a flat $25 fee for each additional half hour up until midnight.  Parties require a $100 deposit to hold the date and to ensure that Club grounds will be cleaned.  After Hours Party guest visits do not count in the 6 visit rule. An additional fee is required as per the following:

            50 guests or less: $275 (Bonded members), $300 (7/5 Day members)

            51 to 100 guests: $300 (Bonded Members), $325 (7/5 Day members)

            100 to 150 guests: $350 (Bonded Members), $400 (7/5 Day members)

 

      Prices for pool parties with over 150 guests must be negotiated with and approved by the Board of Trustees.

      C.  DJ’s AND LIVE MUSIC ARE NOT PERMITTED AT PRIVATE PARTIES.  There is a noise ordinance in South Brunswick governing permissible volume.  Any violation of this ordinance will incur a $500.00 fine.  All fines are the responsibility of the Renter, whose name will be given to the police should complaints occur.  In no way is the Willows Swim Club responsible for said fines.

 

      D.  No alcoholic beverages will be permitted on Club property.

 

V.        PERSONAL CONDUCT

 

The list that follows contains examples of the many rules that deal with the conduct of the membership.  These rules will help you enjoy the facility without endangering yourself or others.

      A.  Non-toilet trained children must be in diapers and must have a bathing suit covering their diaper at all times.

 

      B.  Non-toilet trained children are restricted to the use of the Kiddie Pool when swimming,  and will not be permitted in the Main Pool under any circumstances.  Families who violate this rule will be barred from entering the club for a length of time to be determined by the Board of trustees.

 

      C.  Children of any age with uncontrolled toilet habits must be accompanied by an adult to the toilet facilities at all times.

 

      D.  ALL SAND AND OTHER EXCESSIVE DIRT MUST BE REMOVED FROM ALL PERSONS AND/OR EQUIPMENT BEFORE ENTERING THE POOL.

 

      E.   Admission to the pool may be denied to any person showing evidence of skin disease, sore or inflamed eyes, nasal or ear discharges, or any communicable disease.

 

      F.   Persons with excessive sunburn, open blisters, cuts, or bandages will be refused       admission.

 

      G.  Persons suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be prohibited from entering the Willows Swim Club enclosure.

 

      H.  Horseplay, such as running, splashing, shoving or dunking is not permitted.  Likewise, roughness, rowdy behavior or other conduct affecting the safety and comfort of others will not be permitted.

 

      I.    Expectorating, spitting, spouting water, or blowing the nose in the pool is prohibited.

 

      J.   The cleanliness of toilet facilities is a major concern to the health and welfare of all members, and defacing or misuse should be reported to the Pool Manager immediately.

 

      K.  Users of the furniture, bathrooms, changing areas, pavilion, and lawn areas are personally responsible for leaving them neat and clean, with all refuse placed in the proper containers.

 

      L.   Garbage and trash is to be disposed of in the proper containers.  Aluminum cans should be disposed of in containers marked for this purpose.  We are required to recycle.  

 

 

      M. No dogs (except seeing-eye dogs) or other animals will be allowed inside the pool enclosure.

 

      N.  No eating is allowed on concrete apron surrounding pools.  No containers made of glass will be allowed on Club grounds.

 

      O.  All bathers must wear appropriate bathing apparel.  “Cut-offs” or similar apparel worn during the day for other activities are not considered appropriate bathing apparel.  Underwear will not be worn while swimming.

 

P.    No foot covering of any kind is permitted to be worn on the concrete apron surrounding the pools.

 

Q.  Children under the age of 10 are not permitted to use the diving tank until they have passed a swim test administered by a pool staff member.

 

R.  The diving tank shall be for DIVING ONLY and diving is permitted from the diving boards ONLY.  The diving tank is limited to qualified swimmers. (See “Q” above)

 

S.  Swimming or bathing will be prohibited during an electrical storm.

 

T.   No smoking is permitted anywhere on the Pool premises.

 

U.  Profanity, improper behavior, abusive language and vulgar remarks are prohibited.

 

V.  No running, pushing or any other rough or dangerous activity will be permitted inside the pool enclosure.

 

W.  Ball playing is permitted only in the designated area(s). Ball playing in the pool will be allowed at management discretion.

 

X.  Children in the Kiddie Pool must be supervised at all times by an adult other than a pool employee.  Use of the Kiddie Pool is limited to children up to 6 years of age.

 

Y.  Dressing facilities are available.  DO NOT change diapers in public, or permit young children to walk around without clothing.

 

Z    Diving is allowed ONLY in designated areas.  No diving from the sides of the pool in less than five (5) feet of water.

 

      A1. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on Club property.

 

     A2. Handicap parking spaces are reserved for Handicapped registered vehicles only.  Violators of this rule will be subject to South Brunswick fines.  In no way is the Pool Club responsible for said fines.

VI.       USE OF EQUIPMENT

 

A.  Hanging on, sitting or playing with ropes, buoys, or ladders is prohibited.

 

B.  Fins and other swimming accessories will be permitted only with the permission

      of the Pool Manager.

 

C.  Artificial flotation devices such as rubber balls, inner tubes, water wings, air inflated toys, mattresses, life jackets, and metal objects are not allowed in the Main Pool, except during designated raft hours an/or nights.

 

D.  Climbing on lifeguard stations is permitted by authorized personnel ONLY.

 

E.   Emergency equipment is to be used by lifeguards only.

 

F.   First Aid equipment is to be used by qualified, authorized personnel only.

 

G.  Diving Boards:

           

1.   Only one person allowed on diving board at a time.

 

2.   Diving boards should be mounted by ladder only.

 

3.   The diver must wait for previous diver to move to poolside ladder.

 

4.   Diver must make one bounce only.

 

5.   Diver must dive straight out from front of diving board and diving backwards is not permitted.

 

6.   Upon leaving the board, the diver must swim to nearest ladder.

 

7.   Swimming in the diving tank is not allowed.

 

8.   Hanging onto the diving board is not allowed.

 

9.    Diving into the swimming pool requires extreme care.  It is important to know the shape of the pool bottom (ask manager or lifeguards), and to avoid striking the bottom or the sides.  Do not make steep dives.  Make dives of shallow trajectory.  Before diving, extend hands and arms over head and face palms forward.  Keep arms extended during the dive.

 

10.  Untrained divers require at least 5 feet of water when diving.  Dive straight forward from the diving board only.  Form shallow upward arc to avoid striking the bottom.  Improper diving could cause serious injury, possibly resulting in paralysis or death.

VII.      GENERAL RULES

 

A.  All persons using the facilities of the Club do so at their own risk.  The Club will not be responsible for any accident or injury or loss of property due to theft or fire.

 

B.  Members are asked to observe a 5-mile-per-hour speed limit on pool property, to park only in designated areas, and to keep the entrance walk free and clear in case of emergency.

 

C.  All bicycles are to be locked and parked in stalls provided for that purpose.  Bicycles are not to be ridden on pool property.

 

D.  Each member is RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING THE POOL, TABLES, GRASSED AREAS, RECREATIONAL AREAS, PAVILION, TOILETS, AND DRESSING ROOMS CLEAN.

 

E.   Carriages, playpens, etc., will be stored in designated areas only, and must be clearly marked as to ownership.  Under no circumstances will carriages or playpens be permitted on the deck of either pool.

 

F.   Members are required to return all recreational equipment to the office when they have completed their game, at which time their deposit will be refunded.

 

G.  Lost articles will be placed inside the designated Lost & Found.  Those articles will be displayed regularly along the fence, and disposed of on the last day of the season.

 

H.  All suggestions and complaints must be directed, in writing, to the Pool Managers or to the Willows Swim Club Board of Trustees.

 

I.    Violation of these Rules of Conduct, Use of Equipment, and/or Personal Conduct could be deemed sufficient reason for suspension of pool privileges without fee refund, as directed by the Board of Trustees.

 

J.   Tennis reservations may be made up to 24 hours in advance.  These reservations may be made in person or over the phone, but not by leaving a message.  Use of courts will be allowed by members if they were not previously reserved.

L.         These Rules and Regulations may be revised or additional rules established at any time by the Rules Committee or the Board of Trustees.  The Pool Manager may modify, void, or otherwise change existing rules at any time in mattersafety.
