Our first purpose of this tournament is to pay tribute to Wally Beavis, who unselfishly gave of his time and talents to minor hockey in the City of Peterborough.

In cooperation with the Beavis family there has been a Scholarship Fund established. The scholarship is made up of private donations and the revenue of this tournament to continue Wally's commitment to work for minor hockey.

Since Wally also believed that education was of prime importance, the distribution of the Scholarship Fund combines both hockey participation and the continuing of education.

Each year, Scholarships, (one for each High School in Peterborough) are made on the basis of participation in Peterborough Minor Hockey and achieving high school graduation status with the intent to continue to a higher level. The hockey portion includes all leagues;(house league, all-star, and high school).

In a small way you are helping us continue the second purpose of the Wally Beavis Memorial Hockey Tournament.
