Dear Cheerleaders and Parents,
We are excited to welcome you to Bishop Guertin High School Spirit, and to a program that is the sport of choice. We are a state recognized team and want to continue that tradition through many of years. We have competitive teams who also support other sports in the traditional ways.
Being a Bishop Guertin High School cheerleader is an honor and privilege, and one to be proud of. The program demands respect and admiration from peers and the community, as it proves itself in leadership, values, achievements and worth. The cheerleaders selected are expected to uphold these standards and will become role models of good behavior, athleticism, healthy lifestyles and maturity.
We expect a great deal from the chosen cheerleaders, and demand 110% commitment, dedication, sacrifice, respect, determination and drive to make the teams the very best they can be.
We request that families of Bishop Guertin High School cheerleaders understand that their child will spend an enormous amount of time in the gym, field and competition floor. Spirit is a sport and has a demanding schedule, and that missing practices, games and or competition is not allowed. Chosen cheerleaders will be expected to have minimal conflicts with the schedule, and will manage their time wisely to put academics first and foremost. Maintaining academic eligibility is a must, and all cheerleaders will be supported with their academic progress during the seasons. The coaching staff wants all cheerleaders to succeed in and out of uniform, and will teach effective time management skills to last a lifetime.
We thank you for your interest in the Bishop Guertin High School Spirit Program, and we look forward to coaching you!

Dates
Tryout dates and times are as follows:
Day 1: Monday, August 17th from 5-7pm
Day 2: Wednesday, August 19th from 5-7pm
All tryouts will be held in the fieldhouse.
Method of Selection
Coaches’ Pick
The way teams will be selected is by coaches’ pick. This means that the varsity and junior varsity coaches will choose the team themselves. This is beneficial to each cheerleader because they will be able to see for all three days and not just one performance on one day.
However, if there are a large number of girls, it is important for each cheerleader to try to show their strengths and stand out in a crowd. Introduce yourself to the coaches and make
sure you are aggressive in being seen
All decisions are final.
How the Selection Process will Work
After the second day of tryouts, each team will be posted on the varsity and JV websites by 9pm.
Each team may take up to 20 members and 4 alternates.
How Grievances will be handled
If there is a grievance, please contact the coach within two weeks at her contact number or via email to schedule an appointment to meet with her, the coaching staff and the athletic director.
