In a rain shortened game of 6 innings, the Bears were able to come out on top in the first contest of the year. Jeremy Hage started and threw a solid three innings before being relived in the fourth by Jordan Dickerson. Jared Miller threw the last frame for the Bears. Offensivley it was a great start to the year for the Bears. Chris Flater led the way with three hits.

Friday 3rd vs. Spring Valley Hawks 7:30pm @ Stein Field (NL) - CANCELED (SNOW)
Sunday 5th @ Augusta Athletics 1pm (League Game) - BEARS LOSE 3-6
The Bears were dominated by the pitching of James Gilberson on Wednesday night in Augusta. Gilberson went the distance throwing a complete game scattering only four hits while striking out nine over nine innings. Matt Lunde also threw a complete game (eight innings) for the Bears while also scattering four hits and striking out six. Both teams relied on the mistakes of the other to score runs as the hitting and fielding was very sub-par. Hayden Bowe had two of the Bears four hits while Jeremy Nicolai added a single and Brian Menard added a double. The Bears, who have traditionally been a slow starter in league play, will look to get into the league win column Saturday against Chippewa Falls at Carson Park.
Friday 10th vs. Brill Millers 7:30pm @ Stein Field (NL) - BEARS WIN 4-1
The Bears got a very solid defensive effort as five pitchers combined to pitch eight shutout innings and the offense was able to keep consistent pressure on Brill as the Bears earned their second victory in non-league action.
Saturday 11th vs. Chippewa Falls Lumberjacks (DH) 6pm @ Carson Park (League Games) - BEARS SPLIT (1-2, 6-2)
Game 1: The Bears were able to salvage a split with the Lumberjacks on a cold night for baseball at Carson Park. Chevy Tollefson was the hard-luck loser in game one as he threw a complete game allowing only two runs on six hits while striking out seven. Tollefson was outdualed by Chippewa's Tyler Gray who also threw a complete game and allowed only one run. The Bears Reed Pecha led game one off with a hit and came around to score on a Brian Menard single on what would prove to be the Bears only run. Chippewa scored two runs in the top of the fifth and that was enough for Gray. Sam Janni had two hits for the Bears.
Game 2: The Bears finally got some offense going in game two as they put together two, three run innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth to earn the nightcap victory. Jordan Dickerson was the game two winner and he was as equally impressive as the two pitchers in game one, throwing a complete game allowing only one earned run on five hits while striking out nine. Nick Flater provided the offensive spark the Bears had been missing, as he delivered a two run single in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie. Tom Mewhorter crushed a two run double in the bottom of the fifth to give the Bears some breathing room. Seth Hurt and Brian Menard each added two hits for the Bears.
Saturday 18th @ New Richmond Millers 7pm (NL) - BEARS WIN 8-5
The Bears put an interesting lineup in place for this non-league affair, but managed a come from behind victory. The Bears came into the 9th inning down a run and then tied the game with a squeeze play. After the bunt by Hayden Bowe, Joe Tait (fill-in player) crushed a three run triple over the center fielder's head. Greg Button got the victory by pitching a scoreless 8th & 9th. Brian Menard had two hits and scored three runs for the Bears including a double off the fence in the 7th.
