When are skills assessments?

The 2013 skills assessments are Sundays April 7 and April 14 at West Valley High School and are required for players ages 7 – 14.

When are the tryouts?

There are no tryouts for IBL recreation/developmental teams, only the skills assessments. Tryouts for competitive baseball teams are generally in early May. Announcements will be made at the skills Assessments.

April 28, 2013. After that, you will be placed on a wait list.

Will there be another skills assessment other than in indoor ones?

I can’t make assessments. Will I still be able to get on a team?

Yes, if your child played last year we can base their skill level off of their 2012 assessment. If your child did not play last year we will do our best to assess skills based on a parent interview regarding the players’ experience.

What is the age limit?

Ages 4-14. To play for Shetland (4-6) you must be at least 4 years old on April 30th, 2013. To play Pony (13-14) you cannot be older than 14 on April 30th, 2013.

Are the teams mixed boys and girls?

Yes, the IBL is open to both boys and girls, and the Interior Girls Softball Association offers an alternative option for girls ages 8-18.

Equipment:

What does my kid need to play?

|
Each player needs a baseball glove and good running shoes. Baseball cleats are not required. Only rubber cleats are allowed. The IBL provides bats, helmets, baseballs and other equipment.

Do I need to buy the uniform or is it included in the cost?

|
The player participation fee covers the cost of the uniforms. Uniforms will be issued by the coach.

No, we require a new background check every year.
|

Can I use my military background check?

Yes, you can use a military, Fairbanks Police Department, or Alaska State Trooper background check.

Baseball Season:

When do games start?

The 2013 season starts on Saturday May 18th with the one day multi-game ‘Dust-Off’ Tournament. The regular season starts May 20th and goes through July 12th. The end-of-season Tournament is the week of July 15th, and the season will be done July 20th.

Do we play make-up games for rain-outs or cancellations?

Yes, cancelled and terminated games are generally rescheduled.
|

I’m going on vacation. Will that hurt the team?

No, we ask for your vacation days on the registration form so we can factor in player absences to the team formation process.
