Fall 2012 GYBA 12u Rules

Nations Baseball (www.nations-baseball.com) and the ORMLB (www.mlb.com) govern all rules of play except as noted below. Local exceptions are:

1. Nations Baseball Guidelines and Regulations sections II – VIII do not apply to league play. Section IX.A may vary by league age, level and specific field of play. Sections IX.J & IX.K, section X and section XII- do not apply to league play. Section XI – Add: “The GYBA ‘No Tolerance Policy’ remains in effect at all times.” Section XIII.B – change “tournament director” to “the GYBA Board”

2. Section IX.C.1; C.2.a, b & d; C.3; C.11 do not apply.

3. Game length is 1:30 min or six (6) innings, whichever occurs first. Each half inning will be limited to seven (7) runs or three (3) outs, whichever occurs first. Regular season games may end in a tie. Run rules are in effect – 15/3, 10/4 and 8/5. (Local and NB Rule IX.C.12 & C.13)

4. All teams will bat the entire roster. An official team consists of nine (9) players. A player arriving late can be inserted at any time and at the bottom of the line up. A team with only eight (8) players may start/finish a game but will not take an out for the missing ninth (9th) player. A team cannot “pickup” players from another league or team for an official game. A team with only seven (7) players will be declared a ‘suspended’ game and referred to the League Director for a decision. (Local and NB Rule IX.C.4)

5. Section IX.D.1 - Pitching Limitations:

1. A pitcher is limited to eight (8) innings per week. One (1) pitch thrown in an inning will count as having pitched a complete inning for the purposes of this rule. A week is Sunday to Saturday. A pitcher may pitch a maximum of three (3) innings in a calendar day. Pitching the maximum of three (3) required that player to take two (2) full days of rest before allowed to pitch again. Examples –
A) Pitcher throws three (3) innings on Tuesday. The player is eligible to pitch again on Friday (two full days rest Wednesday and Thursday). B) Pitcher pitches two (2) innings on Tuesday. Player can pitch again on Wednesday. The League Commissioner or League Director will determine the penalty to be assessed for violating pitching rules.

6. A coach/batboy 18 years of age or younger must wear a double eared helmet.
(NB Rule IX.B.2)

7. Only two (2) coaches are allowed outside the dugout. Defensive coaches must remain on the “porch” and within arms reach of the dugout. No electronic devices, buckets or chairs allowed on the field of play. (Local)
