Jim Whytlaw
Coach Whytlaw is beginning his 34th year of teaching in Springfield. The first three years were spent at Central High School as
a mathematics teacher and swim coach before transferring to Glendale. Jim received a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics from Brigham Young University where he also received All-Conference Honors in diving. A Master’s Degree in Education was earned from Drury University. He has served as president of the Missouri Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association and served on the MSHSAA Swimming Advisory Committee. Jim was named Coach of the Year in 1986, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2006, and was honored as Distinguished Teacher by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars in 1994. His wife, Sharon, is secretary to the principal at Pershing Middle School.
