PARKVILLE Travel BASEBALL
Travel Baseball is a
higher level or competitive baseball and offers the players who love to play
baseball an opportunity to expand their knowledge of the sport. The program
provides an advanced level of baseball instruction, practice, competition and
strategy centered on enjoyment for all involved. Baseball fundamentals through
instruction, practice and execution are the heart of this Parkville program.
MISSION:
To provide a higher
level of baseball instruction and play for recreational baseball players who
demonstrate the interest, dedication and skills to compete at this advanced
level of the sport.
SCOPE:
Collaborating with
the In-house baseball program Travel will select players to participate on age
specific teams that will represent the Parkville Recreation Baseball
Association in the local Travel Baseball League (BCML) and selected local and
regional tournaments.
PRINCIPALS:
Teams:
Teams are formed for
7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14 age competition. If enough talented players are
available, two teams can be formed for an age group. First team will be an A
level, second team will be a B level. The more skilled players will play on the
A team.
Travel Team
selections is based on open competition to select the best baseball talent to
field age specific Team of 12 to 15 players.
At no time and in no
way will ant Travel Team associated with Parkville Baseball be considered or
represent themselves as a “Metro” Team. No Travel Team is allowed to
participate in any Metro League play. Practice games and tourtaments with some
Metro Teams are permitted with the prior approval from the Travel Program
Director.
In- house participation
will be in the form of play with in-house teams that is a structure session of
informal baseball instruction and game. No Travel Team will openly compete with
any in-house team in any age bracket. All Travel Teams will interact with each
age matched in-house team at least once during the season. This will be
scheduled at the beginning of the season.
Teams will be
scheduled for fields at least two nights a week during the in-house season on
nights opposite the in-house teams scheduled nights.
Travel Teams are not
eligible for participating in In-house Year-end Playoffs.
Once selected by a
Parkville Travel Team a player is not allowed to participate on another
Parkville Travel Team unless approved by the Travel Program in advance.
No team is allowed
to participarte in any other from of competitive play including any tourntament
play unless prior notice is given to the Parkville Board of Directors. This is
necessary to insure proper liability insurance is in place. All out-of-area
tournaments must obtain a special certificate of liability insurance prior to
tournament registration.
No team is allowed
to hold a fundraising event without prior approval of the Parkville Board of
Directors.
All Travel Teams
will abide by all rules and regulations associated with the BCML and any other
Tournaments.
The Travel Program
Director with the approval of the Executive Board will appoint managers for
Travel Teams. Prior year Travel Managers will be given first consideration
ahead of other candidates.
PLAYERS:
Participation in
this program requires the activation participation in the formal In-house
program. All Travel players must be registered in the In-house program and be a
player in good standing.
There is an
additional fee for travel participation once the player is selected. No player
will be allowed to play until all fees are paid.
No player will be
guaranteed a position on any Travel Team. All positions are decided through
open competition based on skill, attitude, commitment to participate and
sportsmanship.
Play time is not
guaranteed to any player. This is an advanced level of competition and play is
based mostly on performance.
Player may
participate as a member on an In-house team with the approval of the Travel
Team Manager and the Travel Director. Travel players will be assigned to
In-house teams by the league commission to retain competitive balance among all
the teams. In general, no more then two Travel players are allowed on the same
In-house team.
If a Travel player
plays on an In-house Team both of the player’s managers must adhere to the
pitching limit rules. Travel Pitchers ranked as the top two for the Travel Team
will be identified to the In-house team. All Travel players on an In-house team
are limited to 2 innings in a game and cannot pitch the day before a travel
game. In- house pitching rules must be extended for Travel players to include any
pitching they have done or will do in Travel games as if they were pitching in
the In-house. Pitching limits are for the protection of the player.
Travel Players are
not eligible for In-house All-star Team participation.
Travel uniforms and
individual equipment will be the responsibility of player. Players will
purchase their uniform at the beginning of the season.
Parkville Travel
will provide basic equipment for each team (baseballs, catcher’s equipment and
batting helmets).
Budget:
Travel funds all of
its expenses separate from In-house. This includes tournaments, umpire fees,
uniforms, special practice or game equipment, practice and game baseballs.
Funds are generated
from registration fees, donations and fundraisers that benefit the entire Travel
Program equitably.
Basic funds will
cover Umpire fees, baseballs and registration fees for 2 to 4 local touramnets per
Travel Team. Fundraisers will be used for additional tournaments both local and
regional for Travel Team. These plans will be established at the beginning of
the season with all the Travel Teams. All Travel Teams are expected to actively
support fundraising events.
