Why does Redrock Little League require face masks on helmets for players in the Minor and Major division?
This question is asked many times throughout the season. The answer is simple.
    SAFETY
As parents we have seen what it is like for a young player to get hit by a pitch in the face or mouth. It can cause months or even years of pain and costly Doctor and Dental visits. As a league we feel this is a preventable injury. Over the past seven years Redrock Little League has not had one face injury to a player who is batting.
Players at the Minor and Major level don't have the quick reaction time it takes to get out of a way when a ball is pitched. Pitchers at this level are learning control and the ball does get away from them from time to time.

Take a look at the Top chart. "Most Common Injuries to Batters"
Most Common Injuries to Batters: Face 10.13%; Nose 8.16%; Teeth 7.68%; Eye 4.97% TOTAL 30.94%
A $10 face mask can reduce a players injury by 1/3.
    !!WOW!!
