The following objectives are important to understand as we
move forward this year.
Coaching Clinic: this year the
curriculum was broken down by age group and specifically showed examples of
ball mastery, individual moves, and games and activities that are age
appropriate and that the club would like you to use while training your team.
The goal is to provide each player with technical development and growth so
each player can experience success. Your role as a coach is to use the
information provided in the curriculum and bring your coaching experience and
personality to use when coaching your team.
The
coaching clinic breaks down each technique/activity so there is better
understanding of the coaching methods used while training your players.
Each curriculum is broken down into sessions and times recommendations for
each activity. For example, session 1 & 2 is dribbling with activities
that should be used for training. The clubs goal is to offer you as many
opportunities as possible to support your coaching and your team.
Player Academy: The sessions are
designed for your players to come together to see other experienced coaches and
high school players perform the ball mastery, individual moves, and games and
activities. This will allow you to evaluate your players while introducing a
glimpse of each activity listed in your curriculum. The goal of the club is to
allow as much time on the ball as possible during the session. This will also
help you to be more prepared so when you team begins training there is a prior
understanding of what you are trying to do.
The
Academy was created to allow you and your players the opportunity to
practice each activity 3-5
minutes within the 1-hour period. That is not how you should run your
training sessions. You should follow the sessions outline and use a model
of simple to complex when using the activities to bring out each
technique.
