WHO WE ARE

For over 30 years, the Attitash Race Team has been developing and fostering the growth of youth alpine ski racers.  We support a full range of USSA's age divisions: U8, U10, U12, U14, and U16.  We train at the Attitash Mountain Resort and participate in local, regional, and national races and events. Our alumni have progressed to successful racing careers on the Mt. Washington Valley Ski Team, collegiate teams, and even the U.S. national team. Many alumni have returned to our program as parents of new racers, as coaches, or both.

While many alumni have achieved some great levels in alpine racing, we don't simply equate success with winning.  Success comes as a life-long passion for skiing, courage to face challenges, ability to overcome dissappointments, genuine care for teammates, and a smile at the end of the day.

Operating under the Attitash Alpine Educational Foundation (AAEF), we are an organization run by an all-volunteer board of trustees and a paid coaching staff.  While we use “Attitash” in our name, we’re a separate entity from the Attitash Mountain Resort. We have our own membership, hire our own coaching staff, operate races, and host fundraising events to support the team.

Technique and technology have certainly changed since our official formation in 1984, but AAEF's lasting purpose has remained the same: "to establish and carry on programs for the education of boys and girls in the sport of skiing".

A PASSIONATE MISSION

Our mission is to foster the alpine ski athlete by providing an environment rich in expertise where an individual or team can reach their maximum desired potential. This environment will harbor a positive development of an athlete's personal growth, respect for other competitors, see a balance of personal objectives and responsibilities, and foster a development, appreciation, and passion for the sport of alpine skiing.

BIG MOUNTAIN FUN

The best racers are versatile skiers, those who can handle all types of terrain in all types of conditions.

Our training day mornings are typically spent in small, age-specific groups training on some of New Hampshire’s most challenging slopes like Spillway, Trillium, and Illusion. Training takes place on actual race courses set up daily by our coaches, so athletes learn gate techniques and how to carve their way to the finish line. Athletes spend the afternoon with their group and coaches pushing the mountain’s limits: bumping through moguls, skiing glades, ripping in the half pipe, and shredding it up in the terrain park.

Race days are exciting for every athlete, coach, and parent. Our coaches work hard on race day to ensure each athlete is confident and focused when they hear the starter's words... Racer ready . . . GO!

While we take our ski racing seriously, we place safety, fun, and teamwork above winning. In fact, athletes get extensive safety training as part of their coaching, from basic skier courtesies to learning how to ski fast safely. All of our gate training is done on roped off courses, helmets are required at all times, and every athlete commits to a personal Code of Conduct.

All told, there’s no better place than the Attitash Race Team when you’re looking for high-quality instruction, skiing variety, and outstanding conditions in the Mount Washington Valley.
