The 9th annual Monaca Youth Baseball Wing Bash saw over 370 celebrate St. Patty's day with wings, drinks and prizes. This marks the official start to the Monaca Youth Baseball 2012 season. Thanks to everyone who were sponsors, donated auction prizes, worked and attended the event. A big thanks to the ladies at the Turners for all their hard work in the kitchen all day long.

Fireman played near perfect game in an 11-0 win over Rochester USW Tuesday night. Guy Deleonardis started the game on the mound and recorded six outs, all by strikeout while the offense gave him a 2-0 lead. Then the bats came to life as Joey Leasha had an RBI triple to open the flood gates. Reed FitzSimmons had three hits and Jakob Wilson and Drew Busby added RBI singles to put the game away. Great job Fireman!

After coming within inches of a grand slam in the third inning,Dominic Samangy belted his first career home run,a 3-run shot, which left a mark on the Freedom pitching and a car in the parking lot at Green Valley Park. Dominic also helped pitch Sportsman to a 13-1 victory over Freedom Lazaro's Pizza. Way to go Dominic!!!

In the first trip by a Monaca Little League to Aliquippa in many years, the Lions' Madison Snyder started it off with a bang hiting her first ever Home Run to left field in the first inning to lead Lions to a 13-2 victory. Congratulations to Madison!!!

Madison Snyder and Dominic Samangy were named 2012 winners of the Michael DeMarco scholastic award at the opening day ceremonies. The award honors the player(s) withthe highest GPA. Both Madison and Dom excel in the classroom as well as on the field.

The 2012 "Man of the Year" award was presented to Paul "Spanky" Cain at the opening day ceremonies. Paul's dedication to the league as a coach and officer over the last ten years has been a tremendous benefit to the organization. Thanks for all that you have done.

Dominic Samangy hit three home runs in 10 swings to capture the BCYBL 2012 Hitting championship at the BCYBL skills competiton. Dominc also finished 2nd in the running portion of the contest. He showed his hitting ability in the Classic game Saturday by hitting for the cycle including a 2-run home run in the first inning as his East team defeated the West team coached by his dad. Congratulations Dom!

This past Saturday our Farm league Legion Post 580 team joined members of the American Legion in placing flags at the cemetary for the veterans in celebration of Memorial Day. Thanks to Coach Dave Messmer and the parents who took the time to show the kids the good in serving your community and country. A valuable lesson learned.
