The Babe Ruth League was organized in Palisades Park in 1955 and provides supervised baseball play for boys and girls of the community in the 13-15 year age class. It also teaches youngsters good sportsmanship and character as stepping stones to good citizenship.

The late Police Captain Walter Lewandowski was one of the organizers of this organization, assisted by Frank Hubert and Thomas Toscano. Initially games were played at Jabel Field, later moving to Lindbergh Field and thence to the High School diamond. Today, the games are once again played at Lindbergh Field.
