2010 AUSTIN MUDCATS PLAYER'S CODE OF CONDUCT
Section 1. General Provisions Clause.
As a player for the Austin Mudcats, the player agrees to:
(a) Respect the manager and coaches. The managers and coaches are volunteers who donate their time and money. Appreciation of their help should be reflected in all the Player’s actions on the playing field and in all Mudcats’ functions in general. It is the Player’s duty to listen to and follow the directions of the manager and coaches and to obey the rules set forth by the manager and coaches of the team.
(b) Respect team members and other players. Players will not insult, criticize or verbally abuse any other teammate or opposing player. Such behavior reflects poorly on the team, destroys team morale, and will not be tolerated by the Austin Mudcats.
(c) Never resort to physical threats or actions in order to rectify a situation. Physical outbursts are unacceptable and will be dealt with using a zero-tolerance policy.
(d) Display good sportsmanship at all times. As a representative of the Austin Mudcats, it is the Player’s duty to reflect the characteristics of fair and competitive play at all times. The Player will display to others that competition is healthy and he will not lower the standards of the Austin Mudcats by engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct.
(e) Be a steady contributor to the Austin Mudcats. The Player will play baseball and compete seriously not only for personal pleasure and benefit, but for the benefit and as a representative of the Austin Mudcats. The Player will strive to attend every Austin Mudcats game or function, and commit totally to his team by competing soberly, with clear faculties, and to the best of his ability at each and every opportunity.
(f) If, at anytime during the Player’s participation with the Austin Mudcats, a violation of the General Provisions Clause is discovered, this is grounds for either a fine, benching, suspension, or dismissal from the team, and fees paid to that point are non refundable and the Player agrees that all judgments in this matter are the sole discretion of the Mudcats’ management.
Section 2. Morals Clause.
(a) The Player agrees to conduct himself with due regard to public conventions and morals, and agrees that he will not do or commit any act or thing that will tend to degrade him in society or bring him into public hatred, contempt, scorn or ridicule, or that will tend to shock, insult or offend the community or ridicule public morals or decency, or prejudice the Manager of the team, or the Assistant Coaches of the team, or his teammates, or his teammates’ family members, or any Sponsor of the team, or the Austin Metropolitan Baseball League, or the Sport of Baseball, or the State of Texas, or the United States of America in general.
(b) A violation of the Morals Clause includes the use of illegal narcotics or alcohol, either immediately before, during, or immediately after, the Player’s participation with the Austin Mudcats.
(c) The use of illegal narcotics or of alcohol at league events is against league rules, is unacceptable, and will be dealt with using a zero-tolerance policy.
(d) If, at anytime during the Player’s participation with the Austin Mudcats, a violation of the Morals Clause is discovered, this is grounds for either a fine, benching, suspension, or dismissal from the team, and fees paid to that point are non refundable and the Player agrees that all judgments in this matter are the sole discretion of the Mudcats’ management.
Section 3. Dress Code and Uniform Clause.
(a) The Player agrees that he will never wear any garment or apparel that will cause the reputation of the Mudcats to be disparaged, either immediately before, during, or immediately after, the Player’s participation with the Austin Mudcats,
(b) The Player agrees that he will immediately purchase the official Mudcats uniform at first opportunity if he does not already own one, including an official Mudcats baseball cap, and that he will regularly clean and repair that uniform so that he presents himself and his team in the best possible manner at each Mudcats’ game.
(c) If, at anytime during the Player’s participation with the Austin Mudcats, a violation of the Dress Code and Uniform clause is discovered, this is grounds for either a fine, benching, suspension, or dismissal from the team, and fees paid to that point are non refundable and the Player agrees that all judgments in this matter are the sole discretion of the Mudcats’ management.
Section 4. Document File.
The Player will sign a copy of this document, present it to Mudcats management, and a copy will be kept on file by Mudcats’ management.
