    3-4 Basketball Rules

    BASKETBALL RULES
    (3 & 4 yr. olds)

    1. Flip coin to determine first possession and basket. Basket will not change during the game.
    2. No pressing. Play zone defense with hands up. Do not try to steal the ball.
    3. Four 5 minute periods, clock will run except during timeouts and the last two minutes of the game.
    4. Three timeouts per game.
    5. Each player must play at least two periods. Play will consist 3 on 3.
    6. No foul shots. All fouls will be taken out from the sideline.
    7. Good sportsmanship is expected by all participants at all times.
    8. There will be no substitutions during play except during timeout or an injury.
    9. Coaches are responsible for keeping their team on the bench when not playing.
    10. Any coach or player that is ejected from a game will be suspended for two games for the first offense and for the remainder of the season for the second offense. Any coach ejected from the game must leave the gym.
    11. Any spectator ejected from a game will not be allowed to come to any other games and must leave the building immediately.
    12. There will be no officials. Two coaches will be allowed on the floor during the game. They will be responsible for controlling the game.

    5-6 Basketball Rules

    BASKETBALL RULES
    (5 & 6 yr. olds)

    1. Flip coin to determine first possession.
    2. No pressing. Play zone defense.
    3. Four 7 minute periods, clock will run except during timeouts and the last two minutes of the game.
    4. Three timeouts per game.
    5. Each player must play at least two periods.
    6. There will be a 10 second lane warning.
    7. No Stealing. Players can intercept a pass.
    8. If the player picks up his dribble they must shoot or pass. Penalty after 7 seconds will be change of possession.
    9. No foul shots during the game. All fouls will be taken out from the sideline.
    10. Each player will be given one foul shot before each game.
    11. Score will not be kept for this age group.
    12. Good sportsmanship is expected by all participants at all times.
    13. There will be no substitutions during play except for an injury.
    14. Coaches are responsible for keeping their team on the bench when not playing.

    BASKETBALL RULES
    JR. LEAGUE
    (7 & 8 yr. olds)

    1. Jump Ball to start the game.
    2. No full court press until the last two minutes of the 4th period. A team cannot press if they are up by 12 or more.
    3. Four 10 minute quarters, clock will run except during timeouts and the last two minutes of the game.
    4. In the first three periods, the clock will stop at the five- minute mark for SUBS ONLY. A coach must have their players at the table ready to come into the game. If a coach delays the game they will be warn the first time. The next penalty will result in a technical foul. The referee may restart the game if the coach delays the game. Free substitution rule in the 4th quarter only.
    5. Three 30 second timeouts per game.
    6. Each player must play at least 15 minutes a game. Each player will be given one foul shot before each game. These shots count toward team’s score.
    7. There will be a 7-second lane violation.
    8. Ball must hit the rim on free throws before players can enter the lane.
    9. Good sportsmanship is expected by all participants at all times.
    10. In case of a tie during regulation, there will be one (2) minute overtime and time will run regulation. If still tied, sudden death overtime will be played. A jump ball will start and first team to score wins. Each team will receive one timeout during each overtime period.
    11. Coaches are responsible for keeping their team on the bench when not playing.
    12. Any coach or player that is ejected from a game will be suspended for two games for the first offense and for the remainder of the season for the second offense. Any coach ejected from the game must leave the gym.

    1. Jump ball will start the game.

    3. Each player must play at least 15 minutes.
    4. In the first three periods, the clock will stop at the five- minute mark for SUBS ONLY. Coaches must have their players at the table ready to come into the game.     9-13 Girls Basketball Rules

    9-13 Girls Rules

    1.a. The game will consist of 4 ten minute quarters. Every five minutes time will be called to allow the next squad of players to enter the game. This is not a timeout, merely a chance to sub.

    b. A coach may not substitute, except for injury. A coach may substitute in the 4th quarter if all players have met the required 15 minutes of play and 5 minutes sitting out.

    c. Time will not stop during regulation play, except for the final two minutes of the game or during overtimes.

    d. Each team is allowed 3 timeouts per game. In over-time each team is allowed 1 time-out. No carryover of time-outs.

    e. Over-time will consist of 1 three minute period. If a game is still tied after 1overtime, the winner will be determined by an untimed sudden death period.

    f. Half-time will consist of a four minute period. If cheerleaders are on the court, you may not be able to shoot during halftime.

    g. Four players may start a game. Anything less than four will result in forfeit.

    h. All calls made by the officials are final.

    I. TWO TECHNICAL FOULS FOR UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT IN ONE GAME WILL AUTOMATICALLY ELIMINATE A PLAYER, COACH OR PARENT FROM THE FACILITY. THIS IN TURN WILL BRING ABOUT AN ADDITIONAL SUSPENSION. ANYONE RECEIVING TWO EJECTIONS DURING THE COURSE OF THE SEASON WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR THE REMANINDER OF THE SEASON. ANY TEAM THAT RECEIVES THREE PERSONAL TECHNICAL FOULS IN ONE GAME WILL FORFEIT THAT GAME.

    II. Pressing is not allowed except during the last two minutes of the game and overtime. The offensive player has to be cross halfcourt before the defensive player can make an attempt to play defense. A team that has a 20-point lead may not press until the lead is 14 points or fewer. Each team will receive one warning for pressing and then a non-personal technical foul will be called, two free throws and the ball will be awarded to the offensive team.

    III. The 9-13 girls will use an intermediate size ball.

    IV. We will shoot one-one on seventh team foul of the half and two shots on tenth foul.

    V. Free throws- the ball must hit the rim before anyone may enter the lane, girls will shoot from the closer free throw line.
