Working for the Team and the Community
The Cyclone did double duty Saturday, starting the day with a fundraising carwash and spending much of the rest of the day volunteering at the Annual RM Egg Hunt.
The morning carwash was a great success -- good weather, dirty cars and generous patrons made a great combination. Special thanks to Jen for organizing the event and to Bret, our quality control officer, and his team of adults for keeping the cars moving through efficiently. There was great camaraderie and (fun) work for all (and Brittney got to celebrate her birthday at the carwash).
Following the carwash, the team then headed to Stonehouse Park to volunteer at the Egg Hunt. The Cyclone players helped the hundreds of kids at Stonehouse have a great start to the Easter Weekend by working in the egg hunt area, the petting zoo, booths and at other events around the park. The organizers and participants were grateful for all the help the Cyclone provided (and who could miss them in their new shirts?).
After hours of working the Cyclone celebrated their successful day by mowing down some pizza in record time!

Friday Night Fun
The Cyclone hosted the EG Strikers for an early season scrimmage Friday night. With both teams just getting started with the season, it was good to get out and watch the sister Elk Grove teams get out and compete.
The Cyclone effort was a good one, with some periods of good ball movement, increased "heads-up" play and overall toughness and hustle. Shannon scored in the first half and Kacee added one in the second and there were several other nice shots on goal. Defensively, the effort was solid, leaving few opportunities for the Cyclone goalies to show their stuff.
All-in-all, the scrimmage was another good step forward for the Cyclone.

And it begins . . .
The 2009 Cyclone kicked off the season with another windy team meeting . . it's a tradition to start our season with a strong north wind! Hamburgers, hot dogs, paperwork, new friends and high expectations highlighted the day.
A few actions shots (eating counts as an action shot).

The Cyclone scrubbed their way towards paying for a tournament or two.

Shannon Runs School Record Mile!
Shannon, one of the Cyclone track stars, set a St. John Vianney School record by running a 6:17 mile recently.
Shannon's time beat a years-old record. This week, it is off to the championship meet.

Selling Stuff for Soccer
The Cyclone had another great fundraiser, raising enough for two tournaments at the giant, Rancho Murieta garage sale "Trash 'n Treasure."
Most of the team was able to turn out and work under master fundraiser, Jen, in selling books, games, shirts (ask Brett about the Quicksilver specials) and many other odds and ends. In the last few minutes, the Cyclone supposed was allowed to "shop" for some special costumes for the coaches . .. hmmm.
Great work girls and thanks for all the adults -- especially Jen -- for all your hard work!

Kelly directed the golf carts to the wash.

Bre and Amaka search the soccer field for cracked eggs before the hunt. The eggs clearly are not size 5.
