Shawe's Deuce Wall scored 31 points at the 2008 Indiana East/West All-Star Golf Match at the Blackford Country Club in Hartford City last week.
The event featured 32 players and used a modified Stableford Scoring system where two points were awarded for a par, four for a birdie, six for an eagle and eight for a double eagle and deducted a points for a double bogey and two for a triple bogey or worse.

"It was a great experience for the kids and myself. I think they enjoyed playing in an event that, although competitive, was more of a showcase," said Henryville coach Robin Embry, who served as the 1A East coach. "Obviously, I'm very proud of the three kids from Henryville, but it was great to see Deuce as well. All four represented the 1A East squad very well in this inaugural East/West All-Star event. Duece shot a very nice round especially considering it's a course he's not familiar with. It was a nice event for all four to conclude their high school careers and I was honored to play a small part in it."
Tosha Embry picked up the award for Longest Drive for girls while Tucker had the Most Accurate Drive for boys. Embry also was named the Nancy Fitzgerald Mental Attitude Award winner along with Oregon-Davis' Lauren Kuss. The award is based on both academics and golf performance.

The Hornets return the bulk of last year’s SAC championship squad, including Cameron Tucker and Nick Campbell, who alternated as the squad’s top golfer a year ago. Both of them earned all-SAC honors and averaged scores in the low-to-mid 40s for nine holes a year ago.
“They’re the guys that we need to score well to be as successful as we hope to be,” said Henryville coach Robin Embry. “We like the consistency they bring to the top of our lineup.”
Another all-conference performer is back in Taylor Weeks and sophomore Jonathan Clark was also one of the teams top four scorers last season. Freshman Kaleb Robertson will also push for a spot in the lineup.
“We should be competitive with most of the schools on our schedule and compete for the conference title,” said Embry “We’ll look for Cameron and Nick to lead us, and we’ll need good scores from Taylor and Jonathan.”

Henryville places 9th in sectional 6/4/2007 @ Valley View GC - (Par 71)

Floyd Central fired a 294 to win their 5th consecutive sectional. Providence and New Albany advanced to the regional with scores of 309 and 313, respectively.
"All four kids played well. Nick and Cameron had solid rounds. Nick got off to a good start (he was +1 through the first six holes) and Cameron was consistent all day. Josh played his best nine holes of the season (shooting 44 on Valley View's front nine) and Jonathan played solid. He just had a couple of big scores or he would have been near 90.,” said Henryville coach Robin Embry. "It would have been nice to have had Taylor (he did not play due to an injury). He's played very well the last few matches and would have probably helped our score today."
Coach Embry added, "We've had a good season. All of the kids have improved. We won the conference, had a winning season, and had over 20 wins. Our past golf records are incomplete, but with the records we have, this team set a school record for number of wins in a season. In addition, this is one of the best finishes we've had in the sectional."
Next season looks promising for the Hornets. They have all five players back. "We have no seniors, so we think we can be even better next season. Hopefully, these players will continue to play competive golf throughout the summer and fall. It's up to them. Their work over the next several months will determine how good we are next season.," concluded Coach Embry.

Hornets Preview 3/28/2007 by Kevin Harris (Evening News)
Two all-SAC players are back for the Hornets this year. One of them is junior Cameron Tucker, who earned conference medalist honors last season. Classmate Nick Campbell also returns, as he tries to make the all-conference team for the third straight season.
The rest of the roster is comprised of freshmen, who are Jonathon Clark, Taylor Weeks and Josh Hook.
“To be competitive with most of the schools on our schedule, Cameron and Nick will need to consistently shoot in the low to mid 40s, and I think they’ll do that,” head coach Robin Embry said. “In addition, we’ll need two of the three freshmen to be near or under 50. That may be tough to do in the early part of the season. However, I think we’ll get there.”
Embry says Silver Creek, Charlestown and Salem are the toughest teams on the Hornets’ schedule and expects the Corydon Invitational to be the most challenging tournament.

Hornets end season
6/5/2006 - Valley View GC (Par 71)
The Henryville golf team completed it's season at the Floyd Central IHSAA Sectional at Valley View golf course. The Hornets did not record a team score - only three of the four players participated. Nick Campbell led the way with a 94, Jacob Spellman shot 95, and Cameron Tucker recorded a 108.
"It's disappointing to not have all your players show up for the sectional. I really hope we have more than just four players next season - then if one doesn't show, you can still compete as a team," stated Coach Robin Embry. "Nick and Jacob shot good rounds. Cameron was right there with the exception of a couple of holes. I hope Nick and Cameron work on their games this summer and get themselves prepared to play next season. If they'll work at it, they could average in the low 40s, or maybe better, next season."
"We're really going to miss Jacob. He's played some nice rounds over the past four seasons and has showed a lot of leadership the past couple of years, " added Coach Embry. "On and off the course he's a quality young man. I'd like to have a Jacob Spellman on my team every year!"

Eric Waiz led Restoration with a 50.
"Cameron and Nick played nice rounds today. They hit the ball fairly well and kept their putts to a minimum. Jacob was right there with them with the exception of a couple of holes. Hopefully this will give them some confidence heading into the sectional, " said Coach Robin Embry. "Ajay shot in the 50's which is an improvement. He's just a sophomore. If he'll commit to the game, he could help us next season."

South Central was also one player short of recording a team score. They were led by match medalist Clint Scarbrough with a 39.

Henryville third, Restoration fourth in Class A Invitational

Henryville was the host school for the combination Class A Invitational and Southern Athletic Conference championship at Chariot Run on Saturday. The host team finished third among the seven participating schools and took home first place honors among SAC schools.
Madison Shawe posted the best score among the seven participating teams with a 346. Second place went to West Washington with 351. Henryville was third at 433 and Restoration Christian fourth at 449. New Washington totaled a 474 for fifth place, while South Central and Lanesville had incomplete scores with only two participants each.
"Shawe and West Washington both shot good team scores for the windy conditions," said Henryville coach Robin Embry. "The wind made it tough to shoot a low score."
Restoration Christian's Damie Conn was lowest scorer among county players, shooting a 76, which took second place among individuals.
In the SAC chase, Henryville won handily, beating second-place New Washington by 41 strokes. "We're obviously happy about being conference champions; however, we know we kind of backed into it," said Embry. "I was very surprised that Lanesville and South Central did not field a complete team. They were the two picked to win. We didn't have anybody play as well as expected, but it was very windy and all the scores were higher than they have been the past few years."
For their finishes in the conference, Henryville freshmen Nick Campbell and Cameron Tucker each earned All-Conference honors.

Low man for Henryville was Jacob Spellman with a 46.
"This is not the kind of match we wanted heading into our Class A Invitational and SAC championship," said Henryville coach Robin Embry. "Jacob shot a fair round but he didn't have any help. We simply can't compete when our No. 2 and No. 3 are in the mid 50s."

Henryville improved on Friday over its previous golf match but still came up short at Salem. The host Lions got a 13-stroke victory over Henryville, winning 180-193.
Jacob Spellman and Cameron Tucker paced Henryville's team, each shooting a 45 for the round. Nick Campbell was close behind with a 47.
"We played a little better today than we did yesterday," said Henryville coach Robin Embry. "However, we continue to struggle with our chipping and we have too many three-putts. If we can eliminate those, then we'll be posting better scores."
"I'm still hopeful that we can make a run at the conference championship, but we'll need some improvement."

Henryville golf team caught in downward spiral, loses to CAI
5/12/2005 - courtesy of www.ccisb.com
The Henryville golf team had a match with Christian Academy on Thursday that golf coach Robin Embry was hopeful would prove to be a fruitful one. Instead it turned into a frustrating one as the Hornets were beaten by 14 strokes by the Warriors.
"We continue to struggle with our short game. It's tough to post good scores when each player throws away 5-6 strokes per round," said Embry. "We had been playing a little better, however, we've taken steps backwards this week. Hopefully, we'll have a good day tommorrow and end the week on a positive note."
Low man for Henryville was Jacob Spellman with a 46 on the par 37 Lake Nine course. Nick Campbell and Cameron Tucker shot a 49 each.
Silver Creek runs away with triangular match

Silver Creek easily won a triangular golf match with Henryville and New Washington on Wednesday at Speed. The Dragons finished with a 150, while Henryville was a distance second at 189 and New Washington a 197.
Silver Creek's J.T. Byers was medalist with a course par 35. Teammate Tyler Robinson was right behind with a 36. Jared Wycoff had a 39 and J.T. Hamm a 40 for the Dragons.
Low man for Henryville was Jacob Spellman with a 41, while New Washington's Daniel Dieterlen was low for his team with a 45.
"Jacob Spellman and Cameron Tucker shot pretty good scores, and Nick's score was respectable. However, we can't post a good team score when our fourth score is near 60," said Henryville coach Robin Embry.

Henryville gets invited to match and gets victory
5/5/2005 - courtesy of www.ccisb.com
The Henryville golf team was not scheduled for a match on Thursday night and showed up at Hidden Creek for some practice. Already there was Restoration Christian and South Central for their regularly-scheduled match, and the two schools invited Henryville to join them. The Hornets jumped in and came away with a victory, finishing with a 174, while South Central carded a 179 and Restoration Christian a 200.
Jacob Spellman was low man for Henryville with a 40. Cameron Tucker was close behind with a 41 and Nick Campbell a 43. Gregory Nieter was low for Restoration with a 39.
"I'm really pleased with how the kids have improved," said Henryville coach Robin Embry. "Jacob led us with a solid round. Cameron and Nick both posted good scores in spite of each making 10 on the last hole.
"I hope we continue to work on our game and continue to improve. We'll be tested when we play at Old Capitol this Saturday. It's a challenging course," Embry added.

Henryville got a win on the golf course Wednesday, downing Restoration Christian. The Hornets finished with a 188, defeating the Lions by 23 strokes. Restoration Christian tallied a 211.
Gregory Nieter of Restoration Christian was the match medalist, finishing with a 41.
Jacob Spellman was low man for Henryville at 43. He was closely followed by Cameron Tucker at 44.
"Jacob & Cameron had good rounds and continue to improve," said Henryville coach Robin Embry. "They were just a couple of holes away from shooting really good scores. Each had a double-bogey and a triple-bogey."
Also for Henryville Nick Campbell carded a 48 and Dennis Brishaber a 53.
"Nick had 20 putts & Dennis had 24," said Embry. "If they can improve their putting, they'll improve their scores. "We've shown a lot of improvement over the past couple of weeks. Hopefully, we'll be playing our best golf at the end of the season," he added.

Silver Creek had little trouble disposing of opponents Henryville and New Washington on Wednesday at Hidden Creek. The Dragons easily won the triangular golf match, finishing with a score of 163. Henryville was second with 199 and New Washington third at 226.
"Some of our players seem to be improving in their ability to score," said Silver Creek coach Joe Ledbetter. "We need to keep improving in all areas to fill in the gaps left by Toby Lawhon's absence, hopefully before the conference match."
"Cameron Tucker has had a good week," said Henryville coach Robin Embry. "He's beginning to record the kinds of scores we're expecting from him."
"We continue to waste strokes with our short game and poor course management. We need to improve in those areas. "However, we've played much better this week than we had the previous two weeks. Hopefully, we'll continue to improve throughout the season," Embry added.

It was nice to have Cameron Tucker shoot the kind of score we're expecting from him. It's also good to see Dennis Brishaber continue to improve. Once again, Jacob Spellman and Nick Campbell shot respectable scores. We have two more matches this week so we'll see if we can continue to show improvement."

CAI spanks Henryville on golf course
4/19/2005 - courtesy of www.ccisb.com
Christian Academy beat Henryville by 48 strokes on Tuesday, which was very disappointing to coach Robin Embry. CAI won the match, 184 to 232.
"The course was in great shape, the weather was near perfect. I'm very suprised with our scores," said Embry.
"Every player I have is shooting 5 to 15 strokes above their practice round scores. Each match, I think we put too much pressure on ourselves to shoot a good score. I really think we're better than what we've shown our first two matches.
"Even after a day like today, I've got confidence in these guys. I really think we'll be shooting some decent scores by the end of the year, and hopefully before that," he added.
Henryville finishes third in triangular match

Henryville opened its boys' golf season with a disappointing third place finish in a triangular match on Monday. Lanesville took the match over South Central and Henryville, defeating South Central by six strokes, 196-202. Henryville finished eight strokes behind South Central with a 210.
Lanesville's Chris Vanhoose was the match medalist with a 41.
"It was a dissapointing opener for us," said Henryville coach Robin Embry. "I'm hoping my top three can average about 45, and my four and five can keep it south of 55. "Obviously, that didn't happen today. Jacob Spellman and Nick Campbell had fair rounds but that was it. We need to make significant improvement or it could be a long season," Embry added.
