A Letter from the Board
Thanks for choosing HYR baseball and softball. HYR would like to inform you on how we operate.
HYR games are played at Georgetown Optimist Park, which is owned by the Georgetown Optimist Club. The Optimist Club leases the ballpark to HYR for one dollar a year plus 10% of concessions stand profits. For the Optimist Club's generosity we owe our sincere gratitude. HYR volunteers, mainly board members, maintain the park and the Optimist Club grounds. Board members are primarily the ones who take care of fields, cut grass, raise money for the league, empty garbage cans and so on. We need your help.
There are two main areas in which you can help; fundraisers and concessions. Little League allows us to have one fundraiser a year. In the past and probably again this year, that fundraiser has been and is the selling of raffle tickets. We need 100% of your participation in this event in order to maintain and improve our facilities. Also, during the year your team will be asked to work in the concessions stand for one night. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but in the past the turnout we have received has been disappointing. Usually the turnout consists of the coach and maybe a parent or two. the concessions stand is a lot of work and we hope to have more people working in it this year. So please make a concerted effort to help your team do its part.
On a brighter note, you may have recently read that we were awarded a grant from Caesars Foundation of Floyd County. That grant will be used of the updating of fences and the installation of new lights, as well as the updating of existing lighting.
We as a board hope you have a wonderful season. Your help is greatly appreciated.
