Past, Present and Future Members of the League City Cougars and Pride:

It is a great honor to introduce myself as the new president of the League City Cougars and Pride Booster Club.  It is a very humbling experience to be afforded the opportunity to help shape the fun and activities of so many children and their families during a football season.

As many of you already know, activities are already underway in planning to make this the best season ever for the Cougars and Pride.  The Board of Directors is excited by the prospect of all of the new faces that we will see this year as well as the return of many familiar faces.  Before you know it, registration will be upon us.  The first registration day will be held on April 18th at Walter Hall Park.  I look forward to meeting everyone there.  Please keep checking our website at www.lccougars.com for other important information regarding events, locations and dates.

Many of you may also have heard that Rick Metts, the former president of the organization, resigned from his position in January.  While there were differences between his vision for the club and that of the new Board, his service to the organization is truly appreciated.  I would like to personally thank him for his efforts in the many years he was with the club.

Having said that, this Board is committed to moving forward and ensuring that the seasons of the future are centered on the nearly 130 children that come to the group to have fun and learn about the game of football and the arts of dance and performance.  Our vision is to ensure that every child, boy or girl, has the opportunity to participate, learn how to play the ‘right’ and safe way, and most importantly, to have fun.  The measurement of our success as coaches and board members will take place in two key areas.  First, we will ask the question, have we kept the interests of the children at the front of our priorities?  Second, are a significant number of children returning to the program in following years?

Additionally, we are committed to communication with you as parents and family members.  The League City Cougars and Pride Booster Club is your organization.  While we are the elected and appointed stewards of the organization, it is our job to communicate the activities and philosophy of the organization to you.  The greatest disservice we can do to club members as volunteer coaches and leaders is leave the parents, families and children of the club uninformed and wondering about their family’s role in the organization.  This year, expect frequent and open parent meetings with the athletic director, drill director and me.

Please take a minute to visit our website and see who the members of your Board of Directors are.  I am very proud to be associated with each of them and to be able to call each one of them a friend.  You will not find a more dedicated group of individuals who have come together with the same vision and purpose.

If you are reading this letter and are new to, or a prospective member of, the Cougars and Pride, I’d like to offer you an invitation to visit any upcoming meeting of the Board of Directors.  I’d also like to offer you the opportunity to ask any one of the Board members why they have agreed to serve in their role on the Board.  I am certain you will find their stories poignant, relative and true to our mission to provide the best for the nearly 130 children that participate with our organization each year.

I am very excited and looking forward toward the upcoming season.  As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me directly at any time.

    Respectfully,

    Dave Ferguson
    President
