The Junior Division of Lombard Baseball League is comprised of three levels geared around instructional baseball and skills development.
The three divisional levels are:
Junior A (5 & 6 Year Olds)
Instructional Tee-Ball. The purpose of this program is to teach the fundamental skills needed to play baseball and good sportsmanship. There will be no keeping of score. The league and coaches will not track wins and losses. 3 Innings, Wildcat Batting Order (each team will bat through their entire roster), No Walks / No Strikeouts, 45' Bases.
Tee-Ball represents the beginning of a journey for your child that will hopefully last many years. The memories and lessons learned from being a part of the Lombard Baseball program will be carried by your child for a lifetime. A child starts to learn how to play fair, understand the game and how to have fun in a team setting.
Lombard Baseball’s Tee-Ball program is a single division comprised of 5 and 6 year olds where age qualification is determined on August 31. Players and parents will be notified of the their team assignments in mid-March. Practices typically start at the end of March, and 15+ games are played (beginning the first week of May).
Each team generally has 11-12 players, both boys and girls. Players are placed on teams according to parental requests, school boundary, and/or neighborhood. Please note that while most requests are honored, some requests cannot be accommodated due to logistical reasons (i.e. too many players on one team, no one has volunteered to coach, etc.)
Games will be scheduled on one weeknight and on Saturday. Makeup games are typically played on a day mutually agreed upon by the team’s head coaches. Parents should count on 2 baseball activities a week during the season. Tee-Ball rules are relatively simple with teams exchanging sides when one team bats through the order. The game itself is 3 innings, or about 1 hour long. Lombard Baseball League emphasizes that players must play different positions during the season and coaches should teach players to make the “correct” baseball play.
Junior AA (7 Year Olds)
Instructional Tee-Ball & Instructional Machine Pitch The purpose of this program is to teach the fundamental skills needed to play baseball and good sportsmanship. There will be no keeping of score. The league and coaches will not track wins and losses. 4 Innings played, Wildcat Batting Order (each team will bat through their entire roster), No Walks / No Strikeouts, 60' Bases.
Lombard Baseball’s Machine Pitch baseball is designed to give young players consistent pitches to hit. Since many players at this age don't have control, the teams use a pitching machine to throw balls to the batter until contact is made. In addition, this makes for a nice transition to "live" pitching. Kids can get used to the ball being pitched towards them when they are batting .

Junior AAA (8 Year Olds)
Instructional Kid & Machine Pitch. The purpose of this program is to teach the fundamental skills needed to play baseball and good sportsmanship. There will be no keeping of score. The league and coaches will not track wins and losses. 6 Innings played (3 Innings of Kid Pitch & 3 Innings of Machine Pitch), Wildcat Batting Order (each team will bat through their entire roster), 3 Outs, 60' Bases. This program is a significant step up for many of the kids moving up from our Jr. AA program. No longer will kids be hitting strictly off a tee or have coaches participating in the outfield; kids will now be running the field and will be trying to throw strikes to the batter from a distance of 42 feet.

We are always looking for managers/head coaches in all divisions of baseball (tee ball included). If you really want to help our program and support your player, please volunteer to become a manager or head coach. Lombard Baseball offers free training to all coaches. Coaching can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.
Thank you for your support of Lombard Baseball, now
