Message From the President.

On Saturday August 1st our annual regional clinic was held in Pointe Claire. This year's clinic was a big success. Not only were there level 1 and 2 certification clinics given but also a separate clinic was offered to veteran officials on the role of the 'white hat'. I was indeed a pleasure to see so many returning officials and such great attendance at the traditional lunch and information meeting. The highlight of the clinic had to be the tremendous turnout by new officials. The level 1 clinic had 13 new prospects. Included were some ex officials who have decided to come back to the field. This turnout is exciting since these young officials are the future of our association.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank the executive for their efforts in the planning and execution of this year's clinic. Ron Romanado for his role in setting up the clinic agenda, the information meeting and the presenters, Dan Senerchia, Danny Roy and George Latter for their planning and running around for supplies and set up and Earl Olshansky for the clerical and fiscal logistics.
A big thank you also goes out to the presenters who took the time to help with the clinic. Ron Paluzzi, Dan Corley, Ron Romanado, Earl Olshansky, Sol Gliksman, Leo Gervais and John Parker. (I hope I have not forgotten anyone.) Just as Ben Major said in his email, the support and guidance the veteran officials give is of paramount importance in the success of our young officials.
We believe that Lac St Louis North is one of the best regional associations in the province. The quality of service offered to the associations who use us is ever improving. Our goal is to continue to give quality service to amateur football. As popular as the game of football is, it still remains a fragile sport. Once a program goes it seldom returns. Part of the success of football is the quality of officiating.
I wish you all a great season and to the new officials I hope you have found a calling that you will love as much as we do. And remember: "Without referees it is just recess."

Samedi le 1er aout avait lieu la clinique régionale annuelle à Pointe-Claire. Cette année, la clinique fut un grand succès. Pas seulement parce que nous avons offert des certifications de niveau 1 et de niveau 2, mais nous avons aussi offert une clinique spéciale aux vétérans sur le rôle de la casquette blanche. J’étais bien entendu très content de voir plusieurs vétérans de retour et un taux de participation aussi grand au diner et à la rencontre d’information. Le point fort de la clinique est sans aucun doute le recrutement que nous avons eu cette année. En effet, la clinique de niveau 1 avait 13 nouveaux prospects.Ce nombre incluait aussi des ex-arbitres qui ont décidé de faire un retour sur le terrain. Ce recrutement est excitant, car ce sont ces recrues qui sont le futur de notre association.
J’aimerais prendre un moment pour remercier les membres du comité exécutif pour leurs efforts dans la planification et l’exécution de la clinique. Ron Romanado pour son rôle dans l’organisation de l’agenda, de la scéance d’information et des présentateurs. Dan Senarchia, Danny Roy et George Latter pour la planification et la logistique, et finalement Earl Olshansky pour la logistique clérical et fiscale.
Un gros merci aussi aux présentateurs qui ont donné de leur temps pour nous aider durant la clinique. Ron Paluzzi, Dan Corley, Ron Romanado, Earl Olshansky, Sol Gliksman, Leo Gervais and John Parker (J’espère ne pas avoir oublié personne!) Comme Ben Major l’a dit dans son courriel, le support et l’aide que les vétérans offrent est d’une important capitale dans le succès des jeunes officiels.
Nous croyons que Lac-St-Louis nord est l’une des meilleures associations d’arbitre dans la province. La qualité du service que nous offrons ne cesse de s’améliorer. Notre but est d’offrir le meilleur service possible au football amateur de la région. Aussi populaire que soit le football, il en demeure un sport fragile. Lorsqu’un programme tombe, il revient que très rarement. Une partie du succès se situe dans l’arbitrage.
Je vous souhaite tous une bonne saison 2009 et j’espère que les nouveaux officiels se plairont autant que nous dans leur nouvelle position sur le terrain! N’oubliez pas : ‘‘Without referees, it’s only recess’’.
