10U Fall Mavericks Go 9-3
The Fall 10U Squad had a great season as they finished 9-3 in the Readington League with Hillsborough, Flemington, Delaware Valley and Bridgewater. There is another week on the schedule (11/3) but with "Frankenstorm" coming this week hopes are dim the games will be played.

In today's pseudo-finale, pitching ace Sydney threw 4-innings of a no-hit shutout to defeat Hillsborough 4-0, with the offensive dagger delivered by Madison and her 2-run single in the 2nd inning. Game 2 had the Mavs defeating Flemington 7-3 behind Sierra's pitching and some stellar defense by Christine, Amanda and Madison.
10U Mavs take 3rd in Long Hill
The 2012 10U Mavericks finished 3rd in Long Hill after defeating Madison on Sunday. The girls played well in the heat and losing by 1 to Madison and shutting out Cranford were definite high points.

The Coaches feel that all-in-all, there were a lot of positive take-a-ways from the weekend and are looking forward to the next event in Mt. Olive
8U Mavericks Finish 2nd in Long Hill Twisters Tournament
A year after going winless in the same tournament, the 8U Mavericks returned to Long Hill and finished second in the Twisters Tournament. The girls took a 4-0 record into the championship game as the top seed but fell to Mt. Olive in a hard fought championship game. It was such a rewarding sight to see how these girls have improved and gelled as a team, playing with confidence and pride as they realized how good they can be.

In Saturday's first game, an early lead was held throughout the game, surviving a last inning push by Long Hill to win 10-9. Game 2 against Cranford was close the entire game and, after going down early, they took the lead mid-way through the match and held on 8-5. In the final match of the day the girls were hot & tired, causing them to fall behind early. Their second wind hit about the 4th inning as they mounted a comeback to shock Mt. Olive 13-9.

Both teams played like champions in the finals but Mt. Olive prevailed 23-13. The Mavericks got off to a slow start falling behind in the first two innings 11-0. However, the girls never lost their drive and battled back to make it a game by the fourth inning. A late surge from the Marauders kept the game out of reach but the girls finished with their heads up and played hard to the end.

The girls are proud of their achievement, but not nearly as proud as the coaching staff! Congratulations Girls.. what an impressive performance and we all could not be more proud! It was a great weekend of softball!!!!

GO BABY MAVS!!!
UNBELIEVABLE! That's the only word to describe the improvement of our 8U squad, now nicknamed the "Baby Mavs", in their 2nd season. They participated in three tournaments this season finishing 2nd in Long Hill and another 2nd place finish in Hazlet(as pictured above). They also made it to the semi finals in Hamilton. This dynamic 8U Squad finished with an impressive 12-5 record for the season. The coaching staff and of course their parents could not be more proud of the progress the girls made and their performance this season!
