Coaches Rules and Regulations
It shall be the purpose of these guidelines for all coaches.
-Establish guidelines for all coaches.
-Provide continuity within the coaching staff.
The Executive Board shall have the sole authority in disciplinary matters dealing with all coaches.
Any change in the organizational structure or practice of MYCA shall be brought before the Board of Directors and it will subject to approval.
The Board of Directors shall approve and update these rules and regulations as needed.
Article 1 - Coaches
Section 1 Minimum Requirements:
A. Must be 21 years of age.
B. There must be 1 MYCA experienced coach per squad.
C. Every coach must be AACCA certified. The course will be paid by MYCA and the book will be purchased by the coach(s).
Section 2 Are members of the Board of Directors and are required to attend monthly board meetings.:
A. One coach only per squad will be allowed to vote. All coaches
on one squad should confer before voting.
Article 2 - General Coach Guidelines
Section 2 Conduct must be respectful, supportive and sportsmanlike toward Coaches, other student
coaches, cheerleaders and their parents.
Section 3 Favoritism towards any one girl or a group of girls will not be tolerated. All cheerleaders
deserve equal attention and respect.
Section 4 All coaches are required to be on time for practices, games or any other required function.
Coaches must call at least one coach from their squad at least a half hour prior to practice or
game arrival time if they will not be able to attend.
Section 5 Coaches shall be 100 % attentive to the cheerleaders at all games and practices.
Section 6 Shall train and give guidance to student coaches and will be responsible for their actions.
Section 7 Shall choose captains and co-captains for their squad.
Section 8 Responsible for recording ALL accidents on accident reports and filing with Secretary within
24 hours of occurrence.:
A. An accident is anything requiring a cheerleader to sit out of an activity.
B. This item is to ensure the safety of the cheerleaders and to protect the liability of the organization
Section 9 Responsible for reporting all complaints to the Board:
A. Complaints are all those areas of concern by parents, etc.
B. All coaches will keep written records of all incidences.
C. This item is to insure that complaints are handled in an expedient manner and to insure the issue has had a follow up.
Section 10 Coordinate activities with other coaches for inter-squad activities.
Section 11 Dress Code:
All Coaches must be appropriately dressed:
· Full support sneakers.
· No jewelry.
· Hair must be pulled back off the face.
· No clothing of a slippery material.
· No drawstrings in clothing.
· No spaghetti strap tank tops.
· No pockets in clothing.
· No zippers in clothing.
· Shorts must be of appropriate length and rise.
· Shirts must come to the top of the pants/shorts.
Section 12 Act as an intermediary between cheerleaders, parents, board members, Team Advisors and
Team Representatives.
Section 13 Shall develop with the other coaches:
A. A warm-up routine to be done by all squads together.
B. A base set of approximately 10 cheers all squads shall know.
Section 14 Must give the executive board notification of intent to continue as a coach by January 1st of
that year. Notification may be written or verbal.
Section 15 There will be a maximum of 1 hour allowed for practice before games.
Section 16 Coaches must and will abide by the coaches rules and regulations .
Section 17 At a home game, all half time routines are done facing the home side of the field. The home
team goes first. This is to be confirmed with the other teams coach before the game. This is
OCYCA rules so we must abide by them.
Section 18 Squads will support each other during half time routines and other cheer related activities.
Section 19 Coaches shall insure that cheerleaders do not eat in uniforms. Drinks will be limited to clear
sports drinks or water.
Section 20 All coaches must use tact and diplomacy in dealing with parents and cheerleaders alike.
Information will be kept in confidentiality unless safety and health issues apply. Only then will
parents be notified. There is a time and place for everything, but not on the field.
Section 20 Coaches shall insure that good sportsmanship is abided by at all times.
Section 21 The coaching staff shall monitor the progress of and take an active roll in the education of
student coaches.
Section 22 Student coaches must have a coach on the field with them at all times.
Section 23 The coaching staff shall direct all student coaches and said student coaches shall heed the
input and advice from the MYCA coaching staff and Board of Directors.
