Tom Ryan
Head Coach, offensive coordinator
Tom Ryan has been the Radnor High School Football Head Coach since 2007. Coach Ryan spent the previous six years at West Chester University where he was an assistant coach for both Rick Daniels and Bill Zwaan. During his tenure at West Chester Tom was a tight end and linebacker coach and coached numerous All – PSAC, and All –Americans players. In addition, while at West Chester the Rams were a 3 time National playoff team and in 2004 went all the way to the National Semi-Final game.
Prior to coaching at WCU Coach Ryan was an assistant coach at Upper Darby High School for seven years where he was the Special Team Coordinator in addition to receiver and linebacker coach. Tom coached many All- Central and All- Delco players while at Upper Darby.
Tom received his undergraduate degree from West Chester University in Health and Physical Education where he lettered 3 years in football. He also received his Masters at West Chester University in Athletic Administration. Tom was the Department Head of Health and Physical Education at Drexel Hill Middle School in the Upper Darby School District. He also is a graduate of Upper Darby High School where he lettered in football 3 years.
Tom is currently a Health and Physical Education teacher at Radnor High School.
Brett Thomas - Defensive Coordinator
Mr. Thomas is in his sixth year coaching football at Radnor High School. He is also the Dean of Students. Mr. Thomas earned his bachelor's degree in Special Education with a concentration in Secondary Social Studies and Communication Studies from West Chester University, and his master's degree in Educational Leadership and his Administrative Certificate through St. Joseph's University. Coach Thomas played safety and cornerback at Marple Newtown High School and was a three-year varsity starter from 1993-95, in addition to being an Central League midfielder for the lacrosse team. Mr. Thomas went to West Chester University on a lacrosse scholarship and currently serves as the defensive coordinator and previously was the JV Head Coach. Mr. Thomas also coaches for the Red Raiders lacrosse team.
Joe Iacone Running Backs/Linebackers
Coach Iacone is a 1959 Radnor High School graduate and football captain that was undefeated his junior and senior year. Joe was a high school All-American at running back. Coach Iacone played at West Chester State and was a three time All-American at running back. Coach led the nation in rushing his sophomore year. Coach is in the Hall of Fame at West Chester and at Radnor HS. Joe was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1963. Joe had a long career as a teacher and coach.
Chris Sydnor Defensive Backs/Running Backs
Coach Sydnor is a 1981 graduate of Radnor High School. While at Radnor, Coach Sydnor excelled at football and track and field. As a running back for the Raiders he received All-State honors and was named All-American as a sprinter for track and field. Coach Sydnor continued his football career at Penn State University where he received a 4-year scholarship and started two years for the Lions as a Defensive Back. Chris was a member of Penn State’s National Championship Team in 1982 and was a 9th round draft pick of the Los Angeles Raiders. After his pro-football career Coach Sydnor returned to Radnor and became an assistant football coach. This is Coach Sydnor’s eleventh year coaching at RHS. He is married and has two children.
Tony Brigg O-Line/D-Line
Coach Brigg went to Radnor High School and has been coaching for 26 years. Coach Brigg has coached at Radnor High School in the 1990’s and then spent 9 years at Archbishop Carroll. Coach Brigg came back to Radnor in 2011. Coach is a Vietnam veteran and has raised seven children. Coach also has seven grandchildren. All three of Coach Brigg’s sons played football at Radnor High School.
Vince Mirarchi Quarterbacks / Defensive Backs
Coach Vince Mirarchi graduated from Quakertown High School in 2008. He was a two sport athlete in both football and basketball. Vince played quarterback and defensive back where he was a three year varsity letterman and also captain his senior year. In 2007, while playing for Quakertown he also helped coach a state championship midget football team. He graduated from Cabrini College in spring 2012 with an English and Secondary Education degree, and is now seeking a teaching position. He has been with Coach Ryan’s staff at Radnor since 2009, where he coaches the quarterbacks and defensive backs.
Larry DiSipio running backs/linebackers
Coach Larry DiSipio has been with Radnor Football since 2011. Coach DiSipio is a Radnor graduate and former captain of the 2005-2006 Radnor Football Team, where he was a three year starter at linebacker. Larry graduated from West Virginia University with a teaching degree in physical education and health. Currently, he has been working in the Radnor School District as a substitute teacher, aide, as well as coaching lacrosse. Coach DiSipio will be working with the running backs and linebackers this season.
James Hemwall Receivers/ Defensive Line
Coach Hemwall is a 2008 Radnor graduate and former Radnor Raider football player. Coach Hemwall played 8 years of football and has been coaching at Radnor since 2009. Coach Hemwall is a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Radnor Fire Company. Coach Hemwall is attending college locally for a history education degree
Dave Booth offensive line/defensive line
Coach Booth comes to Radnor after recently retiring from his 38 year teaching career, 26 of them in the Upper Darby School District. At Upper Darby HS Coach Booth was the Assistant Football coach and coached with Coach Ryan for 7 years. Prior to coaching at Upper Darby High School Coach Booth coached at Penncrest HS, Daniel Boone HS and Holy Name HS. During his career Coach Booth has coached many players who have gone on to play college football as well as Floyd Wetterburn who played for the Seattle Seahawks and Simoni Marco Lawerence who is currently playing for the CFL in Edmonton.
Coach Booth lives in Edgemont Twp with his wife Joan.
Jeff Potter Freshman Head Coach
Jeff graduated from Ridley High School in 1992. He was a three sport athlete playing football, wrestling, and lacrosse. Jeff went to Penn State where he graduated with a degree in Kinesiology. He received his Master’s in Education from Widener University and is currently in his twelfth year teaching at Upper Darby High School. Jeff has coached football for ten years, at both Garnet Valley High School and Beverly Hills Middle School.
Mike Busza Freshman Assistant Coach
Mike has been teaching and coaching here at RHS since 1996. He teaches Health and PE and coaches football and lacrosse. Coach Potter and he played on the Eastern State Championship Team at Ridley High School in 1990. Coach Busza was the captain and started as the running back and cornerback for that team. He is a PSU graduate where he was a stand out midfielder on the Penn State Lacrosse Team. Coach Busza is looking forward to a great season!
Greg mazmanian Freshman offensive/Defensive line
Greg is an assistant coach for the freshman football team coaching the defense and both the offensive and defensive lines. He has been in this position since 2009. Greg is a 2012 graduate of Villanova University earning his B.A. in both Education and History. Greg is 2008 graduate of Strath Haven High School where he was a three sport athlete competing in Football, Wrestling, and Rugby. He is also assistant wrestling coach at Strath Haven High School.
Jeff Boogay Freshman assistant coach/db, wr
Jeff graduated from Downingtown High School in 2001 where he played wide receiver and defensive back for the football team. From Downingtown High, Jeff went to James Madison University where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. He then received his Juris Doctorate from Villanova University School of Law and is currently an Assistant District Attorney in the Special Victims Unit of the Delaware County District Attorneys Office. During Law School, Jeff was an assistant football coach at Tredyffrin/Easttown Middle School and has now coached at Radnor since 2011.
Luke Peterson Strength and conditioning
Luke Peterson is currently a Strength and Conditioning Consultant and was the Owner and Advanced Performance Specialist of Health and Fitness Works in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Prior to this Luke was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Villanova University for over five years. While at Villanova, he assisted with the training of all 24 varsity teams, including the nationally ranked Men’s Basketball, Football, and Men’s Lacrosse teams. He was solely responsible for the physical development of the Men’s Lacrosse team which recorded the most wins of any four-year span in team history and a 12-3 record (#14 USILA ranking) in 2004. At Villanova, Luke had the privilege of training many athletes that went on to be drafted or signing as free agents in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLL, and MLS. The most notable athletes include Brian Westbrook, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, Kyle Lowry of the Houston Rockets, and the New York Mets top draft pick in the 2006 MLB Draft, Kevin Mulvey.
Prior to Villanova, Luke was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Offensive Line Coach at Archbishop Carroll High School.
Luke is a graduate of West Chester University
