Winter Tryout Information and Requirements
Exceptional 7th, 8th and all 9th graders are eligible for the Freshman Team.
Exceptional 8th, 9th and all 10th graders are eligible for the JV Team.
Exceptional 9th, 10th and all 11th and 12th graders are eligible for the Varsity Team. **NEW Fall 2010**Anyone trying out for Varsity, not already on the team, MUST tumble.
JV and Varsity Winter Cheerleading Tryouts
November 9th and 10th at Plank North 4-6 (shuttle will be available from Spry and Schroeder to Plank).
November 12th 6:30 -8:30 at Schroeder
November 13th 6:30 - 7:30 at Schroeder (teams selected)
Freshman Tryouts
November 16th - 19th 6-8 at Spry. (team selected on Nov 19th)
You need to do paperwork again!!
Don't forget to get your physical paperwork in! You may not tryout with out an updated doctor or school physical and the new "Sports Sign-Up" form signed by student athlete and parent. More information is in the Health Office. All Student Athletes must pick up necessary forms in the Health Office and hand back to the nurse. Coaches cannot accept physical or re-certification forms. Thank you.
Requirements needed to be selected to a Webster Schroeder High School Cheerleading Freshman, JV or Varsity Team this Winter:
Motions – Stiff and Sharp, aggressive.
Voice – Loud and clear. Have personality and good facials!
Tumble – Standing or running - Anyone trying out for Varsity, Fall 2010, not already on the team MUST tumble. JV and Freshman tumbling not required but will increase chance of making a team or higher level.
Jump – Toe touch, double toe touch and Pike. You will be judged on FORM - POINTED TOES, HEIGHT, FLEXIBILITY.
Stunt – Coaches will put you in a stunt group for tryouts. Base, Back or Flier - No one may tryout as a Front Spot. Varsity fliers must double twist. JV and Freshman Full twist. All Fliers must be flexible - front as well as back.
All Stunt Groups will be asked to perform:
*HEEL STRETCH
*SCORPION
*SCALE
*ARABESQUE
*BOW-N-ARROW
Dance - Has Rhythm and Moves. Can pick up on material quickly.
Overall Attitude - Interact with others, teamwork, positive attitude, is willing to learn from and accept coaching advice. Good role model in and out of school.
All candidates will be scored by coaches during the week. At the end of tryout week each girl will meet with coaches individually. Your strengths and weaknesses will be discussed.
