Varsity Head Coach
Coach Grady Sain is entering his 3rd season as head coach at South Torrance High. Has overall coaching record of (103-52-3)and (31-28-1) at South. In 2007 Coach Sain led the Spartans to a 10 game winning streak and took them into the CIF playoffs as a wild card entry and a victory vs Santa Ynez. In 2008 the Spartans were again in the playoffs advancing to the 2nd round with a tough victory at Anaheim High before losing to powerhouse Patriot High . In 2004-2006, Coach Sain was Head Coach at San Pedro High where he earned the 2004 Daily Breeze "Coach of the Year" honors compiling a 26 game win streak and a 31-4 record and a spot in the finals at Dodger Stadium. His teams at San Pedro High were Marine League Champs in both 2004 and 2005. Coach Sain was a Varsity 3 year letterman at West Torrance High School in Torrance California where played shortstop and earned all league honors.. He then moved on to El Camino Junior College where he was the team captian playing 3rd base and outfield. He than finished out his college playing career with both Chico State University and Azuza Pacific University. Coach Sain graduated from Cal State University Dominguez Hills with a BA in Physical Education and a MA in Physical Education/Administration. He currently teachs Health education and Physical education at South Torrance High School in Torrance California.
Coach Sain and his wife of 5 years Denise have a son Logan 1 1/2 years and are expecting a girl in April and reside in Torrance.

Assistant Varsity Coach
Thomas L. Sain-
With over 40 years of coaching experience starting with little league on through to the Major Leagues, Coach Sain who's specialty is hitting has developed some of the most outstanding hitters in the South Bay. Along with assisting his son Grady at South and San Pedro High, Tom has also coached at Penninsula High School , El Camino Jr College and double A ball. Coach Sain was a 3 year starter at Mira Costa High in Manhattan Beach, California and then went on to star at Arizona State University. He made it to the big leagues with the Minnesota Twins and the Houston Astros. Varsity Pitching Coach
Starting his third year as South pitching coach, Coach Krislock comes back home to South after spending a career rich in baseball from all levels. A three year starter at South High which included all City and all League honors, Coach Krislock went on to play college at Oklahoma University and also played in the College World Series. He went on to play professional baseball with the Houston Astros and the Chicago Cubs. Coach Krislock is also a high school football coach and specializes in offense with wide receivers.

JV Head Coach
Third year as JV head coach. Coach Mc Donald has done a wonderful job preparing the JV crew for Varsity. He has followed the "Spartan Approach" with Coach Sain and is one of the reasons the varsity is doing well.. Coach Mc Donald was a three year starter and was a two time all Ocean league player at South high and he went on to star at Long Beach State University.
