Albertson Fury 98 advance to U11 State Cup Quarter Finals

November 2, 2008

The Albertson Fury 98 played a tough game against the East Islip Wildcats. The Wildcats are in LIJSL's Suffolk division 1 for U11 girls. Their record, with one game to go, is 8 wins, 1 tie and 0 losses and they are guaranteed at least a tie for first place in their division. The Fury 98 really stepped up to this strong older team.

The Fury started the game with two early goals. East Islip fought back to tie the game and regulation time ended 2-2. The Fury, playing with only one substitute, scored halfway into the first half of overtime and took a lead that they would not let slip away! Another goal midway in the second overtime period sealed the 4-2 victory and the girls' advance to the quarter finals next May.

All of the girls played hard for the full 80 minutes and should be proud of a well earned victory!

More information on the State Cup may be found at http://www.enysoccer.com/Cups/index_E.html and brackets may be found at https://app1.sportssignup.com/lss/admin/ladder/display.aspx?lid=11570001&session=3619.

Thank You!

The Albertson Fury 98 would like to give special thanks to our three new international benefactors.  The team has recently received donations from Shigeo Kazama of Japan, Wolfgang Gruber of Germany and Ramacandra Rao of India.  Their contribution is greatly appreciated and will be used to help the girls continue to grow both as soccer players and as healthy girls.

Fury 98 win Waldbaums Cup Quarter-Final & Prepare for State Cup Quarter-Final

The Albertson Fury 98 beat the Syosset Red Devils 3-0 in a very rainy game at Syosset's Stillwell Fields.  The Fury 98's offence scored two goals in the first half and one in the second while the Fury 98's defense held tight to deny Syosset from scoring.  The victory advances the Fury 98 onto the semi-finals against the Bayport Blaze on May 17.

This week the Fury 98 are preparing for their quarter-final game in the U-11 State Cup against the Patriots FC Patriots on Sunday at Harbor Links.  Practices will be on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Danny has asked that all of the girls get to be early, by 8pm, on Saturday night so that they are well rested and ready for Sunday morning's game.

July 27, 2009
The Fall 2009 division alignments have been published by the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) and the Albertson Fury 98 have been advanced to the Girls U12 Division 1. The hard work of the Fury 98 has prompted LIJSL to allow the team to jump an age and still be kept in the first division. This should allow the girls a greater challenge on the field.

The other teams in the division are: Albertson 97 Fury, Bayport Girls Thunder, Commack Stampede, Dix Hills Panthers, East Islip Wildcats, East Meadow Explosion, Garden City Flash, Levittown Strikers, and Plainview Old Bethpage Lightning.

Good Luck Girls! With your hard work you will surely rise to the challenge!

The Fury 98 hope to continue to mature as a team and build on last season's success.

The Fury 98 shares Division 1 with the following teams:
    Northport/Cow Harbor Independence
    Bayport Girls Thunder
    CJSL Manhattan Kickers
    Commack Stampede
    Cold Spring Harbor Heat
    Dix Hills Panthers
    Smithtown Fire
    Rockville Centre Racers
    Levittown Strikers

Fury 98 Advances to State Cup Semi-Final

In a rematch of last year's quarter-final State Cup match, the Albertson Fury 98 defeated the Patriots FC 98 in a 2-1 nail-biter.

The Fury 98 took a free kick near midfield and capitalized on a loose ball in the Patriot's penalty area to score the opening goal in the 23rd minute. The Patriot's scored in the second minute of the second half to tie the game. Poised for overtime, the score would remain tied until almost four minutes into extra time with the Fury scoring the go-ahead goal. The Fury held on for the next 2 minutes to earn their victory and their place as Semi-Finalists.

The U-11 Fury 98 have now advanced to the Semi-Finals for the U-12 New York State Championship!

Great Job Fury Girls!

Fury 98 attend Region I Championship

The Fury 98 girls were down in Huntington, West Virginia for the US Youth Soccer Region I National Championships over the Fourth of July weekend.  The girls were the youngest team in attendance at this year's championship as they were "playing up" a year.  The Fury faced the State Champions from New Jersey, Delaware and Rhode Island in their preliminary round.

The Fury 98 went 1-1-1.  Their only loss coming to the soon to be Region I Champs, NJSA 04 Blast.  The girls tied their second game and won their last game.  After their defeat to NJSA, the Fury 98 only conceded one more goal and came within one goal of advancing to the semi-finals (a win in their second game tie would have qualified the girls for the semi-final wildcard).

The Fury 98 would like to thank the Albertson Soccer Club, the Long Island Soccer League, the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association and the Fury 97 for their support and assistance as the Fury 98 made their run at the Region I Championship!

Great job Fury Girls!  Keep up the hard work!
