Monday, November 11 - Singles
Six of our conference singles players won their opening matches and advanced to the second round.

Maya Gilbert (Helix) def. Emma Liljenback (Tri City Christian) 6-1, 6-0
Lana Maronesy (Valhalla) def. Julia Czajkowski (San Dieguito Academy) 2-6, 6-2, 1-0(1)
Gabi Mark (Steele Canyon) def. Gwen Lundstrom (Mission Bay) 6-1, 6-0
Madison Hill (West Hills) def. Amanda Bernard (Santana) 6-0, 6-0

Despite playing some of the best tennis I've seen this year from our conference players, only Lana Maronesy advanced to the third round Wednesday with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Isabella Valentos (Sweetwater). 

Tuesday, November 12 - Doubles 
Four doubles teams moved to the second round and three of those won twice and advanced to the third round.

Bilunias-Bilunias (Steele Canyon) def. Gorence-Shoemaker (Granite Hills) 6-2, 6-2
Childs-Hoffman (Steele Canyon) def. Boss-McCrory (Ramona) 6-2, 6-1
Bryson-Glovinsky (Steele Canyon) def. Parker-Pubbi (Torrey Pines) 6-3, ret.

Steele Canyon carried our conference into the third round with all three teams advancing!! 
Bilunias-Bilunias (Steele Canyon) def. I. Fakhimi-Roach (Bonita Vista) 6-2, 6-1
Childs-Hoffman (Steele Canyon) def. A. Fakhimi-Greeno (Bonita Vista) 6-1, 6-0
Bryson-Glovinsky (Steele Canyon) def. Mohrlock-Mullen (Clairemont) 6-1, 6-0 

Wednesday, November 13 - Singles and Doubles
Though no one moved into the fourth round, our players gave their best and represented the conference well!
In singles the Norsemen's Lana Maronesy battled against #5-8 seed Elina Shalaev (Canyon Crest Academy) before falling in straight sets. While that was happening the Cougars huddled and prepared to hunt their opposition. Alex and Olivia Bilunias took the first leap but couldn't bring down #5-8 seed Bernstein-Piao (LJCD). Though #9-16 seed Gonzalez-Luna (Coronado) won the first set quickly, Marti Glovinsky-Moira Bryson continued to battle, before dropping a tight second set.  Alivia Childs-Ashley Hoffman fell behind against #9-16 seed Belezzuoli-Lipschultz (CCA), bared their teeth and took a lead in the second set before coming up just short.

These players qualified for the CIF Individual Tournament at Balboa Tennis Club. The tournament runs from Monday, November 11 through Friday, Novemeber 15.

Singles players should check-in at 12:30pm with your coach on Monday.
Doubles players should check-in at 12:30pm with your coach on Tuesday.
