2009 Rules for D-2
January 2, 2009 --
In 2007 new rules were adopted for Class D-2.
A brief summary is as follows:
a. The ball must cross home plate before a runner on any base may attempt to steal.
b. The catcher is NO longer required to hold onto the third strike. The batter is automatically OUT on the third strike regardless of whether or not the catcher holds onto the ball.
c. On a third strike a runner may attempt to advance - but only after the ball has crossed home plate.
