Committee Volunteer Opportunities
Girls on the Run is growing and needs talented men and women to help manage that growth while maintaining the integrity of the program. We are initiating the formation of a number of committees for which we will need chairpeople and members. Please read through the committee descriptions below and contact the Council Director with any questions. A Volunteer Application can be completed by clicking here.
Development
The Development committee serves the incredibly important role of securing the funds necessary to provide Girls on the Run programs in Hunterdon, Bucks, and Warren Counties. The cost of delivering our high quality program far exceeds the registration fees we request from our participants, so sponsorship funds and fundraising are necessary to sustain the program. This committee is charged with formalizing and implementing a sponsorship program, identifying potential sponsors and fundraising opportunities, working closely with the council director to solicit sponsorships, cultivating long-term relationships with sponsors, and planning and executing appropriate fundraising events.
Program Support
The Program Support committee assembles all the materials the coaches will need for execution of the GOTR lesson plans throughout the season (referred to in GOTR-circles as the “coach box”). Tasks include shopping for supplies; cutting, copying, collating, and pasting together lesson materials; creating certificates; attending a pre-season coaches meeting to explain the contents of the “coach boxes” to the coaches; and more... Although most of this committee’s work will take place prior to the start of the season, shopping and meeting schedules are flexible, and “coach box” work parties involving food and fun are encouraged! If you are detail-oriented and have an interested in learning more about the GOTR lesson plans and curricula, but cannot commit to coach, this is the committee for you!
Community Outreach
The Community Outreach committee is charged with promoting GOTR throughout Hunterdon, Bucks, and Warren Counties, and includes program growth and expansion. This committee will develop and implement creative ways to increase awareness of GOTR throughout our territory. It will also work to identify and approach new venues for GOTR programs and develop materials and strategies for participant and volunteer recruitment. It will review new site applications and assist the Council Director with site evaluations. If you possess strong communication and public relations skills, enjoy writing and publication design, or are simply passionate about the mission of GOTR and would like to share that passion with others, please consider joining our Community Outreach committee.
GOTR Series 5K Event
Each GOTR season culminates with the girls’ participation in a Girls on the Run 5K race event. Our council plans and delivers both a spring and a fall 5K event, and planning is a year-round endeavor. Race committee members and race day volunteers are always welcome. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the planning and delivery of a unique and very special community event.
Race-Day Volunteers
Support the success of Girls on the Run 5K events and community races in which GOTR will be a beneficiary by volunteering your time and enthusiasm on race day! Our race day volunteers commit to simply showing up early on race day, helping in a variety of capacities to ensure the smooth running of the event, and having a blast as an important contributor in the success of the event.
