Who We Are
The Kentucky Colonels is a competitive baseball program made up of an 18U team and a newly formed beginning play in 2009, 16U team. The players on both teams are some of the most talented players in their respective age groups in the northern Kentucky / Greater Cincinnati area. They come from various area high schools and each has aspirations of competing at the collegiate level. The program is in its sixteenth year of existence and has won numerous titles at the local, state and regional levels. The 18 year old team has successfully competed in various national championships including the AAU, NABF, NSA, Sandlott, Mid-America and Premier World Series’. Each year we are invited to compete in some of the most prestigious tournaments held throughout the South and Midwest.

History and Mission Statement
The Colonels program was initially formed by Denny Taney and Walt Terrell in 1994 as a 13 year old team competing in the Southwest Ohio League out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Each year thereafter the team moved up one year in age until 1999 when we sent our first group of players into the collegiate ranks. The Colonels remained an 18U team until 2009 when we added a 16U team to our organization. The new head coach is former Colonel Player, Foster McElfresh. Foster had been an assistant coach with the 18U for the past four years. Assisting Foster with the 16U team is Joe Price, Bill Horvath and former Colonel Player, Scotty Buckler. Joe had a highly successful major league career pitching for 11 years, seven of which was with the Cincinnati Reds.

The mission of the Colonels is to teach and promote sound fundamental baseball skills in order for our players to achieve their maximum skill level and to assist in every way possible in the placement of our players on college rosters. We do this by providing superior coaching and instruction from an extremely hard working and dedicated coaching staff with an emphasis on skill development of each and every player. We also maintain a close working relationship with the college coaches and professional baseball scouts throughout the Midwest to enable maximum exposure for our players.

Affiliations
The Colonels have been a proud member of the Southwest Ohio League (“SWOL”)located in Cincinnati, Ohio since the inception of our program in 1994. The “SWOL” is recognized nationally as one of the most competitive leagues in the United States. The Colonels’ affiliation in the SWOL has enabled the team to participate in Regional and World Series tournaments hosted by the AAU, NABF, CABA and NSA.

In 2005 the Colonels joined Sandlott Baseball out of Nashville, TN. Each year the Colonels compete against other teams from the Sandlott mid-American conference located throughout the Midwest. In addition, in July of each year the Colonels participate in the 18U Sandlott World Series held in Nashville, TN.

In 2007 the Colonels were invited and accepted membership into prestigious Mid-America Baseball.
