The 1st Annual Long Island Breakers Baseball Tournament - Open Invitational for Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, is complete.

A special thank you to the staff at St. Margaret's, for dedicating their time to ensure the field was in great shape, the Snack Shop was opened, reporting of scores, and handing out baseballs for each game played on-site.  Thanks Pete, Jan, Mike S, Vicki, Anthony G, Dominick, Danielle and Nancy and the rest of the staff! 

A special thank you also goes out to Lindy American Little League President Jason Peckholdt, the entire board of directors of the league, and "field specialist" Dave Romero - for spending 2 days at the field getting it prepared for the teams to play on.  Thanks to volunteers Michael J. Riselvato (Field Coordinator), Toniann Riselvato and Morgan Wilkins (T-shirt sales), and Bobby Kapoor (Security).

The Long Island Breakers organization will be hosting a baseball tournament, where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort Fund.  The fund will be chosen by the Manager's of each team participating in the tournament, as their selection will be made on the Tournament Entry Form.

Here are some of the details of the tournament:

• Tournament Dates: April 5 - 7, 2013
• Tournament Entry Fee is $700.00.  Full Payment due by March 5, 2013.
• Age groups for 2013 will be 9u, 10u, 11u, and 12u.
• There will be 6 teams in each age group.
• There is a 4 game guarantee.
• The tournament format will be 3 Pool Play Games followed by a single elimination Playoff Round.
• Pool Play games will be played on Friday, April 5 (at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.) and Saturday, April 6 (from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.) and Sunday morning.  Playoffs will begin early Sunday afternoon.
• 3 quality Baseballs will be provided for each game.
• Umpire Fees are included with the tournament entry fee.
• Games will be played at the Moriches Athletic Complex (MAC).  Friday evening games may be played at St. Margaret's or MAC.
• Tournament T-Shirts will be available at the event.  Pre-orders of T-shirts will be made available to all teams as well.
