LADY KNIGHTS DOWN LADY JAGUARS
The Lady Knights did not drop a game last night as the Varsity won 3-0 (25-6 25-9 25-19), the JV won 2-0 (25-8 25-13), and the Freshmen won 2-0 (25- 10 25-23). Next up is the big match against Dripping Springs on Friday.

LADY KNIGHTS FALL TO LADY TIGERS
In one of the closest matches of the season, and despite the awesome effort of our Lady Knights volleyball teams, the Dripping Springs Lady Tigers handed McCallum its first district loss of the season last Friday.
In an excellent and close match-up, it took 4 games for Dripping Springs to win over our Varsity team (23-25, 25-22, 11-25, 19-25). Tanisha led McCallum with 19 kills, Katherine and Tanisha tied for the most blocks (3), Anna lead the serving assault with 2 aces, Leslie led defense with 21 digs, and Caitlin had 27 assists. The overall stats were:

LADY KNIGHTS TRIP TRAVIS
Congratulations to the McCallum Lady Knights as they continued their winning ways tonight in a home match-up against the determined Travis Rebels.
Varsity won their matches (25-16, 25-16, 26-24). Tanisha and Halle led McCallum with 6 kills each, Tanisha, Halle, and Katherine tied for the most blocks (1 each), Shelbi led the serving assault with 5 aces, Leslie led defense with 10 digs, and Caitlin had 17 assists.
The Lady Knights JV beat the Rebels (25-16, 25-11) and Mac Freshmen won in three games (25-19 19-25 25-6).
Another great home game turnout with the stands full of Lady Knight fans and family!
This Friday the Lady Knights face Reagan at Reagan. Come out and support our team as they take it on the road. JV at 5:30, and Varsity starts at 6:30. (Remember, no Freshmen game Friday.)

The Lady Knights defeated Crockett Tuesday night as the Varsity won 3-0 (25-9 25-15 25-8), the JV won 2-0 (25-10 25-12), and the Freshmen won 2-1. Next up is LBJ on Friday (Parent's Night).

Lady Knights Victorious over LBJ
The Lady Knights won all 3 matches Friday night. Although the Varsity Lady Jags came out hot and had the Lady Knights down 11-20 in the first game, the Lady Knights powered back and won that game 26-24 and went on for an easy sweep after that. The JV subdued the Lady Jags 2-0 and the Freshmen took the match in 3 games, 2-1. After surrendering a lead in game 2, the Lady Knights Freshmen dominated game 3 for the match victory.

LADY KNIGHTS FALL TO DRIPPING SPRINGS
All 3 teams were overcome by Dripping Springs last night, but all of the games were very close. The Varsity lost 23-25, 21-25, and 15-25. The JV lost 2-0 but had a 24-21 lead in the first game before losing 24-26. The Freshmen lost 2-0 but scored over 20 points in each game. Varsity Stats were:

PLAY-OFF INFO
The play-off picture has now been finalized. The Lady Knight play Hendrickson AT McCallum on Tuesday, November 4 at 7:00PM. The Lady Knights need a loud home crown to win this one. They dropped a close match earlier in the season 2-3 to Hendrickson need your support. Be there to cheer them on.

LADY KNIGHTS WRAP UP SEASON WITH WIN OVER REAGAN
Wrapping up district play last night, the Lady Knights easily swept the Varsity and JV matches against Reagan Lady Raiders at the McCallum Gym.
Varsity won 25-12, 25-8, and 25-13. Lady Knights were led with Tanisha's 15 kills, Anna's 10 kills, and Katherine's 3 kills. Tanisha and Katherine had 1 block each at the net. At the service line, Julia and Bailey had 3 aces each and Caitlin had 2 aces. On defense, Leslie led with 10 digs, Anna with 8 digs, and Bailey with 5. Caitlin had 30 assists.
JV also swept their match with scores of 25-13 and 25-10.

Tomorrow night’s (11/5) booster club meeting has been POSTPONED. We will reschedule later in the month.

LADY KNIGHTS' SEASON ENDS
The Lady Knights season ended last night as they came up a little short against Hendrickson falling 1 - 3 (23 -25, 23-25, 25-21, 19-25). The Lady Knights played their hearts out but could not overcome the taller Hawks.
Good Luck to our seniors - Tanisha, Caitlin, and Anna - in their future paths, wherever they may go.

Monthly Booster Club Meeting
Booster Club meetings will be held the first Wednesday evening each month at 6:00 pm in the McCallum cafeteria during the season. Called meetings will be held at other times of the year.

I would like to welcome you to the 8th annual Bowie Junior Varsity/Freshmen Volleyball Tournament on 9/4/2008 and 9/6/2008. This year we will be at two sites, Bowie and Burger. Burger will have 2 courts both Thursday and Saturday, and Bowie will have 2 courts on Thursday and 3 courts on Saturday. Please note that the tournament is no longer pool play and is bracket play only for both days. The B teams will participate in bracket play on Saturday the 6th only. Each bracket game will consist of a best 2 out of 3 games to 25 (no cap). Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and a Consolation champion.
* Coaches please remind parents parking will be a challenge on Thursday since school is going on. All buses should park toward baseball field or near the back of school at Bowie.

UPDATE: Saturday morning's game has changed to Court 3 - Red Gym (still 9:15AM and still vs Regents)
THURSDAY RESULTS: The Lady Knights beat Bastrop in 2 straight games to start the day. In the second game of pool play, Georgetown was again the better team but the Lady Knights took the second game of the match and forced a third game. THese results put them in the SIlver Bracket where they will meet the 2nd place finishers in the other pools. Their first bracket game will be Saturday morning at 9:15AM on Court 1 vs Regents. Regardless of the results, they will play again at 1:00PM. If they win at 1:00PM, they play their last game at 3:30PM. If they lose at 1:00PM they are done for the tournament.

AISD Tournament Results
The AISD Tournament is complete and the Lady Knights took 2nd place in the Silver Bracket losing to Georgetown in the Finals 14-25 and 17-25. In Pool Play, The Lady Knights won their first 2 games beating Akins 25-21 and 25-16 and Anderson 25-19 and 25-23. They then lost to Granbury 1 game to 2 games and to Georgetown in straight games making them 3rd in their pool. In the first round of bracket play, they beat Hendrickson 2 games to 1. In the 2nd round of bracket play they lost to a very strong Euless Trinity team in straight games 17-25 and 23-25. The Lady Knights had a lead most of the 2nd game but could not close it out. This dropped them into the Silver bracket where they met Anderson again. After winning the first game 25-23, the Lady Knights got behind in the 2nd game and rallied back but fell short at 22-25. In the 3rd game, the Lady Knights dug a deep hole and were down 6-18. However, at that point the Lady Knights caught fire and stormed back to a 25-23 victory for 2 match wins over Anderson in a single weekend. That set up the final game against a tall and talented Georgetown team. The Lady Knights fought hard but could not overcome the Lady Eagles. Next up is Bowie at Bowie on Tuesday night (8/19). (Note: All scores are approximate and may differ slightly from the offical score.)

Make a special note that there will be a Parent Booster Club Meeting at 6:30.
That is also the night of the Varsity/JV/Freshman lock-in.
