My Friend Mikey
A Story of Courage and Strength

Dear Friends

Michael "Mikey" Stolzenberg is a kid on my Weston Warrior Youth football team. He was the quarterback and team captain. Mikey's eight years old. Please click on the link to learn more about him http://michaelstolzenbergtrust.org/

This past fall , he contracted a bacterial infection that became so severe, he was in Pediatric ICU for 59 days. He was fighting for his life. During that time his body went into septic shock, and his limbs were deprived of oxygen. The decision was made a few weeks ago by his doctors, to amputate his hands and feet. When Mikey was told he would need two separate surgeries, he asked the doctors to do it all at once so " he could get better faster".

Literally days after his surgery, he was back on the sidelines, cheering on his teammates. This kid's a fighter, and he's in for the biggest fight of his life. Mikey will require new prosthetics ( which his insurance doesn't cover) every two years until he reaches maturity. The quality of these artificial limbs, and thus Mikey's quality of life can vary tremendously.

My wife Starr was instrumental in setting up the The Michael Stolzenberg Trust Fund. Every penny that goes into Mikey's account will be used for the purchase of high tech prosthetics, so he may get as much out of life as possible. He told me on Saturday, " I want to walk first, so I can get out of this wheelchair".

I am asking for your help. Whatever you can contribute will go completely and directly toward making his life a little better.

Checks can be made payable to The Michael Stolzenburg Trust and mailed to the address below;

Thank you,

Joe Adams
