PBC Scholarship Program

We annually provide a one-time scholarship grant to one or two eligible high school seniors who best meet the Selection Criteria below. The award is usually announced and awarded at the winners' high school senior or sports awards night.

For 2013, we are accepting applications up through April 15, 2013.

The Scholarship Application is under Online Forms on the left menu. An application is also under Handouts for printing and mailing to PBC Scholarship, P.O. Box 461, Pasadena MD 21123. Proof of grade point average may be requested after we receive an application.

ELIGIBILITY - to be eligible for consideration, the applicant must meet all four eligibility requirements:
1. Membership. Applicant shall have played a minimum of four years for the Pasadena Baseball Club.
2. Grade Point Average. Applicant shall have a GPA of 2.5 or better on 4.0 scale during their high school career.
3. Enrollment. Applicant shall be enrolled as a full-time student in a college, university, or vocational school for the fall semester following high school graduation.

Proof of GPA and student enrollment is not required at the time of submission, but the Club reserves the right to request proof from applicant upon selection and prior to receiving the award.

SELECTION - to be selected, the applicant will be evaluated against other eligible applicants in these five areas:
1. Participation. Applicant shall be evaluated on the number of years he/she participated in the Pasadena Baseball Club (or former organizations).
2. Contribution. Applicant shall be evaluated on the contribution he/she made to the operation of the Club besides mere participation.
3. Academics. Applicant shall be evaluated on the quality of his/her academic record.
4. Athletics & Activities. Applicant shall be evaluated on his/her participation in high school athletics or other activities.
5. Short Essay. Applicant shall be evaluated on the content and quality of his/her written essay.

Tyler Blake - Anne Arundel Community College.
Tyler played for the Pasadena Baseball Club while in high school.  He graduated from Northeast High School in 2010.  Tyler is currently (2012) playing IF/OF for AACC.

Glynn Davis - Baltimore Orioles/Delmarva Shorebirds, Catonsville Community College.
Glynn played for the Pasadena Baseball Club.  He graduated from Northeast High School in 2009.  Glynn played for Catonsville Community College and was named their 2010 Male Athlete of the Year.  He was also named to the All-Region XX first team, and All-Maryland JUCO Conference XX first team.  Glynn was signed by the Baltimore Orioles in 2010 and is currently (2012) playing for their Delmarva Shorebirds farm team.

Tyler Drinkard - Neumann University, AACC, UMBC
Tyler played for the Pasadena Baseball Club while in high school.  He graduated from Northeast High School in 2009.  Tyler was named All County firstbaseman in his junior and senior year.  He was named All Region Tournament firstbasemen in his sophomore year at AACC.  Tyler is currently (2012) playing for Neumann University.

Earl Geoghegan - Dundalk Community College.
Earl played in the Havenwood Little League and the Pasadena Baseball Club.  He graduated from Northeast High School in 2007.  Earl played for Dundalk Community College.
 
Chris Henry - Salisbury University, Dundalk Community College.
Chris played in the Havenwood Little League and the Pasadena Baseball Club.  He graduated from Northeast High School in 2007 and played in the 2007 Brooks Robinson All-Star Game.  Chris played for Dundalk Community College and Salisbury University.
 
John Hodges - Dundalk Community College
John played in the Havenwood Little Leage and Pasadena Baseball Club.  He was the winning pitcher in Northeast High School's County Championship game in 2007.  He graduated from Northeast High School in 2008 and was named as an All-County pitcher.  John pitched for CCBC Dundalk.
Jason Jones Washington Nationals / Harrisburg SentatorsLiberty College.
Jason played for the Havenwood Little League.  He went to Liberty College and was drafted by the New York Yankees in 2004.  He played for Tampa Yankees in 2006 and made the Florida State League All-star team.  He was traded to the Minnesota Twins in 2009 and played for AAA Rochester Red Wings.  In 2011, Jason played for the Harrisburg Senators.

Chris Moore
- Dundalk Community College.
Chris played for the Riviera Little League and Pasadena Baseball Club.  He graduated from Chesapeake High School in 2007 and was "Pitcher of the Game" in the 2007 Brooks Robinson All-Star Game. Chris played for CCBC Dundalk.
 
Rich Porohnavi - Wallace State University.
Rich played for the Havenwood Little League and Pasadena Baseball Club.  He graduated from Northeast High School in 2006, was a Baltimore Sun All Metro Selection, and played in the 2006 Brooks Robinson All-Star Game. Rich played for Wallace State University. 
Josh Rickman - Catonsville Community College.
Josh played for the Pasadena Baseball Club, and was a member of their 2006 Joe E. Brown (16U)championship team.  He graduated from Northeast High School in 2009.  Josh played for CCBC Catonsville.
Chorye Spoone - Baltimore Orioles / Norfolk Tides.
Chorye played baseball for Northeast High School and Catonsville Community College. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2005, and has played for the Delmarva Shorebirds (A), Frederick Keys (A) and Bowie Baysox (AA).  Chorye was traded to the Boston Red Sox and is currently (2012) pitching for the Pawtucket Red Sox (AAA).
Jesse Wiggington - Webber International University, Dundalk Community College.
Jesse played for the Riviera Little League.  He graduated from Chesapeake High School in 2006.  Jesse played two years for Dundalk Community College and is currently (2011) a Senior pitcher for Webber International University.
Bryan Woolford - Wilmington University.
Bryan played for the Riviera Little League and for the Maryland Lakers.  He graduated from Northeast High School and played in the 2006 Brooks Robinson All-Star Game.  Bryan played two years for Chesapeake College and is currently (2011) a Senior infielder and pitcher for Wilmington University.
