From the desk of Charley Langley, President, Pitt County Girls Softball League
Hello!

What another great year of girl’s softball in Pitt County!!

Softball in Pitt County has certainly been in the news - and almost all of the girls who provided this excitement learned their skills and love of the game through the Pitt County Girls Softball League. My name is Charlie Langley and I am the Board President of PCGSL.

Great softball in Pitt County is not a new phenomenon. Our All-Star teams and our High School teams are always among the best in the state. We at PCGSL are proud of our record of accomplishments, which includes numerous state and regional trophies, and seven Babe Ruth World Series Championships.

While the All Star program is an important part of what we do, we are most proud of our recreational program for all female athletes between the ages of four and eighteen years old. Teaching the fundamentals of the game, as well as teamwork and sportsmanship, is what drives us to try to make our program the best anywhere. We are affiliated with Babe Ruth Softball and are recognized across the country as the model for a girl’s softball program. We operate as a Non-profit, so our League is fully dependent on the community we serve for volunteers and for the financial support needed to operate this program for over 700 girls each year!

PCGSL is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and managed by a paid Executive Director who answers to that Board. Our Sara A. Law Complex on Reedy Branch Road is owned by the League and thanks to a gift from the John Roberts family, we also own The Zone. We are not part of any governmental recreation program and receive no support from tax dollars at any level. PCGSL was organized 15 years ago to fill a void in girl’s recreation in Pitt County. We are meeting that mission year after year and we continue to seek ways of improving the service we provide. We ask your continued support, both as parents of the girls who participate and as the community at large. I also ask that each and every girl who has, does, or will participate in PCGSL, take pride in the program and the facilities. They belong to you.
