Every Team Needs the Little Things Done

The coaches, the athletes, and the AD- that is what you think of when you think of high school sports. But every team needs someone to help keep the information flowing, the carpools organized, the successes of the teams spread throughout RamLand.

Please consider offering to be a Parent Rep for your child's team or club. It doesn't take a lot of effort and everyone benefits.

We have put together a sampling of tasks a Parent Rep could help with, or engage other parents to help with during the various parts of each season. (link to Parent Rep document 05/2005 click here)

John Vlahakis provides overall coordination to this role. If you want to sign on as a Parent Rep or just learn more about the advantages of getting involved please write to RHS_BoosterClub@yahoo.com and let us know your interests.

Fields Still Unplayable - Call to Action
    May 22, 2006  --
The time has come for all of us to help get the baseball field, tennis courts, field events venues and more right at RHS. Please help by writing to the Post and watching for other avenues you might utilize. Our graduating athletes in several sports have never had a "home" game and that is a sad thing.

Watch this space for updates/information on progress.

Washington Post Article on Unfinished RHS Construction (05/21/2006)

Follow up letter to the Post from President Moritz
And the text of his message to the club
    "All,
Over the past 4 years, we have waited and waited for baseball, tennis and track to make it back to Rockville High. Unfortunately, it hasn't happened. And this year's senior athletes in those sports will have been shut out from playing at RHS.

Not only do I feel a level of disrespect and disappointment, but as a taxpayer, this is deplorable. So I have written to the Washington Post (letters@washpost.com) about their article in Sunday's paper concerning the condition of RHS's baseball, tennis and track fields (see attached letter). I want to urge you all to send a letter to the Post, as well. I hope we can make enough noise to prevent another year of school without these facilities. If you haven't seen the article, it's in section C, page 5, and is written by RHS alum, Amy Orndorff, whose family are members of the Booster Club.

We can't change what has happened but we should try to change what has not happened, so please write or email the Psot. We will have more to ask from you on this matter, so stay tuned.
