2017 Summer Selects
Parents and players, we are going to start our summer basketball league on Monday night, June 5 at 6 p.m. Games will be played on Monday June 5, Monday June 12, Monday June 26, Wednesday June 28, Monday July 10, Monday July 17, Wednesday July 19, Monday July 24, and Monday July 31.
We will use the same format we used last summer. With some exceptions, Players currently entering the 2017-2018 school year in 4th, 5th and 6th Grade will come at 5:45 p.m. We will divide the kids as evenly as possible into 4 teams and start at 6 p.m. We will have two 25-minute games going on two different courts, and following a short break, the two winning teams will play and the two losing teams will play. The games will be over at 7 p.m. We will do this every week rather than assigning a player to the same team for the entire summer.
Then, we want the boys entering 7th, 8th and 9th to arrive no later than 6:45 p.m. We will divide this group into four teams and again play two 25-minute games with the winners playing and the losing teams playing. In order to make this work and to allow us to organize even teams, please try to be on time. The games will be over at 8 p.m.
Finally, boys entering 10th, 11th and 12th grade, as well as CV alumni basketball players will play from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in an open gym format. Because we will not be using refs, there will be no cost for this age group.
Cost of the league is $20, which will be used to pay our high school refs and to cover gym fees. Please download the form and fill it out and bring it to your son’s first game, whether that is on June 6 or later. We will have registration forms available the first couple of nights. The offseason is when players can really develop, so encourage your boys to attend as many of these games as possible. However, even if your son is only available to play in a couple of games, we still invite him to participate.
Any questions, please let me know. The school has reminded me that in order to use the facilities, we many not bring any food or drink into the gyms. Doug Cody
