Jonny Baggett Tourney 2012 - Varsity Men - Saturday Final Results

3rd Annual Jonny Baggett Tournment Ends with Wins

Both the Varsity Mens and Ladies ended the 3rd Annual Jonny Baggett Tournament with wins.
The ladies won the Varsity Womens with fhree straight wins.  The final game was against WF Rider revenging the playoff loss of last year.
The Men had a slow start in the first game dropping that game which moved them to the left side of the table.  They finished strong besting both Evermen and Brewer with straight shut-outs.  The Men won the consolation side of the table.
During half time of the Men's game there was a presentation by the team to Jonny's family.  At this time it was announced that Jonny's #4 jersey would be retired and hung in the school main corridor.
2012 Senior Night

Hawk Men out match Lake Dallas Falcons

16 Mar  12 - Hawks put on a bit of a show over the Lake Dallas Falcons.  The men controlled the tempo of the game in a very possession oriented manner.  First goal of the match in the 20th minute by Alex Becerra.

Cesar Rosales placed two goals in the back of the net.  First goal in the 33rd minute and then again in the 44th minute.

Quality time seen by every player as the Falcons had very few possessions past the mid especially in the 2nd half.   Final was Birdville Hawks 3, Lake Dallas Falcons 0.

Another quality district win...let's keep the eye on finishing district strong.

Hawk Men Outlast Argyle Eagles

20 Mar 12- Hawk men started slow defensively and gave up an early goal during a 6th minute melee in front of the goal.  Quick work by Enriqure Rangel tied it 2 minutes later.  The score (1-1) stayed that way until the half.

The Argyle Eagles were charged up for this game.  They kept pounding thoughout with successful penetrations.  Several clears by defense and an awesome save by keeper John McGuiffin in another melee inside the 6 kept the Eagles off the board.

Second half continued to be a struggle as the Eagles kept the pressure up.  A brilliant goal by Juan Pablo Martinez in the 63rd minute sealed the fate.  Super efforts by Cesar Rosales were a determining factor in keeping the Argyle defense in check.  Not sure how Cesar didn't get a goal with many chances going a bit wide or just over.  His efforts in the last 20 minutes with some help from Garrett Perkins, Juan Martinez and Jared Delgado were absolute fun to watch.

One more district game...dare with think of the history to be made?  Then onto Playoffs on the 30th...

Hawk Men down Denton - District Champs!!!

14 Mar 12 - Varsity Men Hawks repeat as the District 11-4A champs for the second year in a row by besting the Denton Broncos 1-0.

While Birdville maintained the tempo of the game...Denton had its chances.  Well played the Hawks could only manage to put one into the back of the net by Ceasar Rosales in the 60th minute.  The Broncos had some pushes and a late opportunity by Denton was called back by due to offside.

The men solidified their second District championship -- a bit earlier this year than last.

Congratulations Guys!!!

Hawk Men Defeat #2 Bryon Nelson

9 Mar 12 - The Hawk men defeated the district second place team, Bryon Nelson Bobcats, in the 2nd leg of district play.  This revenged the tie and only non-win result in the first leg of district play.

Cesar Rosales put on the board the only first half goal in the 21st minute.

The Hawks controlled much of the game...clearly focusing on ball possession...and looked good at times doing so.  But, the Bobcats maintained their poise and had quite of few quality pushes in the 2nd half.

Austin Ramey had a brilliant goal in the 79th minute to secure a final outcome of 2-0.

Notable for the night was the defense of Issac Villalosbos, Jacob Lightcap, and Kyle Riese whoo all looked and acted strong all night.  But, the bright star of the night defensively was keeper John McGuffin.  Several great individual efforts and saves clearly kept the shut out going and momentum from shifting away from the Hawks!

Congratulations Men on a great win!

Come Back Win for the Varsity Men

28 Feb 12 - Varsity men had a come from behind win against Denton Ryan on Tuesday night.
Going against the wind the team did well but on a come from behind the off side point run Denton penetrated the defense and put the first goal on the board.  The 28th minute goal would be the only tally in the 1st half.

Second half started with the Hawks in possession.  Additionally, Hawks had the wind to their backs.
Alex Becerra tie the game on a run on header coming in from a corner in the 50th minute.

Cesar Rosales put the winning goal in th 62nd minute on a break down the right side.

Game ended with the Hawks winning 2-1.  Varsity Men won all but 1 of the first round of district games...and the one non-win was a tie.
Way to go guys.  Get ready for the next round...they know 'ya now.

Hello Win Column -- Varsity Men beat Denton

The Varsity Men started well Monday on grass turf playing at Birdville Old Stadium in a make up from Saturday's rain out.  The first 15 minutes was back and forth.  As the game progressed the possession style play the Hawks have displayed at times though out the season showed brightly.  During these phases the Hawks were in absolute control.  Such was the case for the first goal of the game coming from Carlos Cazares in the 17th minutes on a great goal from the right and super individual effort.
Late in the first half in the 38th minute Enrique Rangel placed one in the back of the net giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead at the half.

Second half again started with a bit of back and forth with many players seeing quality playing time.  In the 62nd minute Enrique Rangel works his magic around the Denton defense and moves the Hawks 3-0.
However, Denton was not going to lay down.  IN the next twelve minutes they pushed and managed 2 goals.  With 11 minutes left the game was up for grabs.

At this point the more of the possession style play began to take hold and was clearly evident in the last 6 minutes.
The Varsity Men walk away with a Win and get ready for back to back games with Tuesday night at Lake Dallas.

Hawk Men Tie 1st District Road Game

The Hawk Men took on Bryon Nelson Bobcats for the first district road game of the year.  The first 25 minutes were pretty much even spending much time in the middle third of the field.  The few chances by Byron Nelson were dealt with adeptly by the starting defense of Alex Becerra, Issac Villalobos, Kyle Riese, center back Jacob Lightcap and keeper John McGuffin.  Offensively in the first half the Hawk dominated between the 25th and 35th minute but got no result for the effort.  The Bobcats pushed hard the last 5 minutes of the half but the defensive team was strong.

The second half started with Bobcat kick and they scored in the 47th minute taking a 1 goal lead.  The Hawk offense was charged up and pressed hard.  Having just missed an early 2nd half opportunity, a superb effort by Garrett Perkins tied the game in the 59th minute.  It was a hard shot just outside the box from the left side which ricocheted off several Bobcat defenders and into the net.
From that point on the game opened up with chances by both teams...seemly a few more by the Hawks but no result by either side could be found.

The final was 1-1 putting the Hawks men at 1-0-1 thus far in district play.

Men Win District Opener

Men win District opener with a solid performance.

Going down early to Timbercreek when a Keeper handling mishap occurred the Hawks stayed postive.

Putting the slow start behind, Enrique scored twice before the end of the half.  Starting the 2nd half up 2-1 Juan quickly scored at the outset of the half by  bringing the tally to 3-1.  It stayed that way until 13 minutes left in the game when in one minute increments, Jared, Cesar, and Cesar scored for a 6-1 lead.

With 5 seconds left Luis was fouled inside the 18 and a PK ensued.  Luis was given the honor and smartly placed it in the net closing out the scoring rampage with a final score of 7-1.

Luis shot is shown here as well as Cesar on the move.

Varsity Men Tie Granbury Heading into District Play

Varisty Men took game on the road and played Tuesday night in Granbury.
Early header goal by Cesar Rosales on assist from Garrett Perkins started thinks off well for the Hawks.
That score stood until half time when Birdville was up 1-0.
A give back goal was scored ..... tieing the game 1-1.
Hawks battled back with a 2nd header goal of the game this time by Alex Becerra on a free kick by Jordan Lightcap.   This put the men back up by one goal.
In the waning minutes of the game Granbury was awarded a PK which even up the results 2-2.
Final talley was 2-2.
Next stop -- District Play

Varsity Men - Brewer Tournment Champions

21 Jan 2012
Varsity Men bring home the Brewer Tournament Champions hardware with a win against South Hills.
The early morning game pitted the Hawks against Mineral Wells and Garrett Perkins had two header goals in the first half to seal that win.
With a tournament record of 3 wins and 0 losses...it was still pins and needles to determine if they would play in the Championship Game.
A loss by future opponent Bryon Nelson sealed the deal and the Hawks were in.
The Championship game started solidly against the Birdville Men.  South Hills was strong for the first 15 minutes or so.  Despite a close call and great come-out save by keeper John McGuffin the Hawks turned away the onslaught.  Finding form the game took a back and forth tone.
In the second half both side had solid opportunities but defenses for both sides came through.
The game ended at a 0-0 tie and went to dribble up shoot out.
Intense moments as it took 6 opportunities from both sides to determine the outcome.  Birdville prevailed...3-2, with goals scored by Alex Becerra, Austin Ramey, and the game winner by Thomas White.

CONGRATULATIONS for a Great 4-0 Weekend!!!!

Varsity Men get a Three-Peat

21 Jan 12
Varsity Men win their 3rd game in a row at the Brewer tournament.
Two -- yes count them - two -- early headers by Garrett Perkins were all that's needed against the Mineral Wells opponent.
Dominating much of the play the Hawks faired well but despite several other chances nothing found the back of the net.
The defense was solid and did not allow a goal.  Game was a 2-0 Birdville win.
Andrew Miller saw his first action in a while and we missed Srege Ditu at the game.
Now 3-0 in the tournament -- must wait to see if we make the Champions or third place game due to the 3 bracket formula.

Good Job Men...fun to watch.

Varsity Men String Back to Back Wins

20 Jan 12
Varsity Men get their second win in a row.  First time this season they have had back to back wins.  The first score against Southwest was from Alex Becerra in the first half and left the game tied 1-1 at half time.  Enrique Rangel scored early in the 2nd half putting the Hawks up 2-1 for good.  Again, late 2nd half push by Southwest found the defense struggling a bit.  A lose ball in front of the Hawks open net late in the game could not find a foot by either team for what seemed like an eternity.  Finally cleared by Kyle Riese...that sealed the win as Southwest could not mount another serious attack.

Next Game is 1030 am Saturday in the Brewer Stadium.
A win seals a playoff spot at 4:30 pm.

Varsity Men Win 1st Brewer Tourney Game

19 Jan 12
Varsity Men return to winning ways with a 1-0 outcome versus FW Northside HS.
The game was decided in the first 3 minutes with a goal from Garrett Perkins.
The team then went on to control the pace for much of the game.
A couple of great saves by defense and keeper John McGuffin protected the early goal.

Game 2 is Friday at 4:30 PM on Field 2 against Southwest.
17 Jan 12
The Varsity men started the season strong with great possession and team work.
However, in the latest game with 5A LD Bell the boys struggled early in the second half giving up 2 quick goals.
After that -- the men returned to form.
Still missing some players to early season injury - finding the back of the net was difficult.  They are now 1-1-3.

GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND at Brewer tourney.
Hawks Fall to Rider

4/1/2011 -  Our Hawks came up short against Rider in the third round of the playoffs.  Rider scored the only goal in overtime.  Great season Men.  You will always be 2011 District Champs.

You can go back through most of the season by reading the saved game summaries.

Great Season       Thanks Seniors

Birdville Hawks Area Champions

With two hawks soaring over the fields at Northwest ISD, the Birdville Hawks took the field against the Gainesville Leopards.  The Hawks decided they didn't want to wait as long to get on the board in the second round playoff game, as it did in the first round against Brewer.  The first goal by Tyler Wagley from a nice pass from Andrew Miller, was scored at the 3:00 mark.  With 15 minutes to go in the first half, Tyler turned on the speed, and got past  the last defender, then beat the keeper for the 2-0 Birdville lead.  Just two minutes later Tyler completed his hat trick after he took a shot from the back line, and it ended up in the upper 90.  The Hawks went into the half leading 3-0.  Birdville came out with the same intensity that it showed in the first half.  Jordan Lightcap took a pass from Wagley, and shot from just inside the 18 yard box, the ball hit the far post, and then went in for the goal.  Coach Garcia made some nice substitutions and with about 14 minutes to go in the game Andrew Sawyers - Senior Defender, scored his first goal as a Birdville Hawk.  The game ended with a 5-0 victory for the Hawks.  The next game will be against Wichita Falls Rider.  The date, time, and location is still to be determined.

Birdville Men Advance with Win over Brewer

3/24/2011 - The Varsity Men move on to round two of the State Playoffs.  Earlier in the day, they were recognized as one of the top 10 teams from the area by the Dallas Morning News. This game was a rematch of a game that saw Birdville win 5-0 in January.  This time the score ended 3-0. Brewer came out with all the intensity.  When five real good Hawk scoring chances missed the net from close range, Brewer fans and players had some momentum. Their best scoring chance came on a free kick that made it through the wall to a diving Sean O’Connor. He kept the ball out of the net and Isaac Villalobos cleared the ball from the defensive end. The Hawks got on the scoreboard after some halftime encouragement from Coach Garcia.  Cesar Rosales opened the scoring after beating the goalie following a through ball pass from Anthony Bardon. He put the ball in the net a short time later for his second goal of the game. When the opposition played to protect the middle of the field, our midfielders recognized that and played through balls to get our forwards scoring. When the defenders played back to guard against the long ball, our midfielders dribbled through the open midfield and took advantage of nice ball control.   That is exactly how Tyler Wagley scored the last goal of the game. The Hawks had inspired minutes from Seniors Chandler Gee and Thomas Wittner. Both had shots on goal that should have gone in the net. Andrew Sawyers made some nice clearing plays in the second half to help preserve the 15th Shutout of the Year.  Let's Go Hawks and Let's Go Short pants!!! The next game will be Tuesday March 29th  5:30 at Northwest ISD again.  The Hawks will play a Gainesville team led by Everaldo and Giovanni.

Birdville Men are District 11-4A Champs

The Boys accomplished one of their preseason goals. A win in either of the past two games would have made Thursday nights match a non event.  However, a 0-0 tie versus Lake Dallas and a 0-0 tie to Argyle Tuesday night made the game versus Denton Ryan a must win. The whistle blew to start the game and 25 seconds later Ryan was on the board. Down 1-0 the Hawks did not give up. They tied the game later in the first half on Cesar’s Penalty Kick. He has been perfect on these attempts putting the ball in the upper right corner each time. Birdville changed ends at half and was now playing with the wind at their backs.  Garrett Perkins and Carlos Cazares took turns cancelling out Ryan’s outside midfielders and Austin Ramey firmed up his defensive side. Denton Ryan would be 3rd place in the district regardless of the outcome and played deep into their bench in the second half.  The wind and some starters on the bench gave the Hawks the edge in the second half. With nine minutes to play the score was still tied and a tie would give Argyle the District Title. Andrew Miller kept the field stretched allowing our midfielders some space once they beat a man with the ball. Enrique Rangel took advantage of the space by dribbling the ball around the goalie and into the net. The Hawks were now trying to protect a 2-1 lead. The Raiders pushed some players up in an attempt to even the score.  They had a couple of chances but the defense held firm.  Two minutes remained in the game and Tyler Wagley caught the Raider defense pushed up trying to tie the game.  Tyler’s goal gave the Hawks a 3-1 lead and sealed the district championship.

State Playoffs start next week. Our game will likely be Thursday against the fourth place team from District 12.  Congratulations Coach Garcia now lead the boys to the State Title.

Birdville Men vs Argyle and a chance to clinch district

Tuesday versus Argyle had the first and second place teams fighting for an edge in the district race.  Senior night saw the largest crowd of the season cheering on the Hawks.  Argyle has last years district goalie of the year who has played just as well this year allowing just 9 goals in district play.  He made at least a dozen saves and kept the Hawks scoreless even though Birdville controlled the midfield with Bardon, Wagley, Becerra, and Rangel.  Argyle’s send it long style has worked against every other team they have faced this year.  This type of play has their freshman forward near the top in scoring for the entire Metroplex.  Birdville’s Freshman defender Isaac Villalobos played a big role in slowing down that attacking midfielder. Speedy and strong, Andrew Sawyers swept most through balls and Kyle Riese played an aggressive attacking style of defense. When the Eagles did make it through the defense, goal keeper Sean O’Connor answered with saves of his own.  Not to be shown up in his own district, he has allowed just 5 goals in district play this season including 7 shutouts. Tyler Wagley had a game winning opportunity with under a minute to go in the game. He beat the Argyle keeper but a recovering defender deflected his scoring attempt. The game ended in a tie putting the pressure on Birdville to win their last district game.
Hawk Soccer Look Good in Win

3/7/11 -  The Birdville Hawks came out with a focus and purpose tonight against the Denton Broncos.  Plenty of girls were on hand to watch the boys play pretty soccer. Lady Hawk alumni, Current Lady Hawks and an appearance by the Hawk Cheerleaders were enough motivation for Cesar to turn it up a notch.

The Hawks put together a solid game in all areas on the pitch.  First half goals by Rosales (2) and Anthony Bardon "Rooney". Second half was bookended by Tyler Wagley and Austin Ramey. Sean O'Connor and John McGuffin teamed up for another shutout. They have been stingy this season allowing a mere five goals in league play thus far.  Combined with the defense led by Alex Becerra and Andrew Sawyers the Hawks threw its fifth district shutout of the season.

Be sure to find pick up a soccer team program.  They are selling for $10 each and all the kids are in it.
Hawk Soccer Continues to Soar

3/4/11 -  The Birdville Hawks continued their quest for a district championship in a 2-0 win over the Bobcats of Byron Nelson.  The Hawks controlled the ball during the majority of the first half, and finally Carlos Cazares was able to put a rebound shot in the net at the 10 minute mark of the half.  The Hawks had many shots that were stopped by the Bobcats keeper, but with 32.4 seconds in the first half, the keeper was unable to stop the shot of Tyler Wagley making the score 2-0 going into the half.  For your halftime entertainment, the Byron Nelson Drill Team did a dance routine that seemed to keep the attention of many of the soccer players.  Once the second half started, Byron Nelson seemed to pick up the pace a bit, and made Hawks keeper Sean O'Connor make many impressive saves.  The score ended 2-0, and the Hawks moved to 8-0 in district play.  The Broncos of Denton High will travel to the FAAC on Monday March 7th.
Birdville Men Big win vs Old Rival

2/22/2011  The Men's team scored goals in the last 4 minutes of each half to get a victory over the Denton Ryan Raiders.  After going 0 for everything on PK's for the season coach changed things up a bit on the late first half attempt.  The first PK attempt was granted due to Alex Beccera getting pushed to the ground while attempting a back header.  This attempt was saved by the Ryan keeper.  However, the official called a foul on the Ryan defense for entering the penalty area too soon, and a rekick was awarded. As chants of "Cesar, Cesar"  came from the crowd, Mr. Rosales stepped into his shot and gave the Hawks a one goal lead.
The Hawks kept the pressure on at the start of the second half.  Tyler and the Referee had different opinions of a call, Tyler lost his debate and sat with a Yellow card.  With him on the bench, the Raiders controlled more of the action.  The Raiders capitalized on a header from a corner kick with about 11 minutes remaining. Even though the Hawks were playing one of the least passionate games of the year they did not give up. At the 39 minute mark of the second half, Cesar clinched the win for the Hawks with his second goal of the game.
This completes the first round through district play.  The Mens team is undefeated thus far and knows that a district championship is still within reach.
Birdville Men Move to First in District

2/18/2011  The Men's Varsity team had a big win over the previously undefeated Argyle team.  The Hawks were without two regulars but the whole team stepped up to play big.  Argyle went up 1-0 about 10 minutes into the first half.  The Hawks tied the score on a corner kick that was redirected into the net by the head of Alex.  The teams went into the half tied 1-1.   After a disputed goal and 4 yellow cards on the Eagles, including one for their fans, the Hawks went up 2-1 early in the second half.  Argyle evened it back up a few minutes later back tied 2-2. Anthony had a chance to put the Hawks up, but hit the post on his PK attempt.  Jared got the lead back for the Hawks with just 4 minutes to go in the game.   After a late surge and a final red card for one of the Eagles, the match ended 3-2 in favor of the Hawks.  Next up is Denton Ryan.

26 in 26
01/28/11 - The Hawks came out smoking against Azle this afternoon as #26 Jared Delgado drew blood just 0:26 into the match to stake Birdville to a 1-0 lead.  The green & gold controlled the match the rest of the way, but that would be all she wrote as neither Birdville nor the Hornets could find the back of the net for the remainder of the match.
The Hawks control their own destiny into the championship game tomorrow night.  They could find themselves in the 4:45 third place game under several scenarios, but if they can max out in points against Denison at 1:45, they'll get their chance to win it all in that 8:00pm match.
Undefeated and Untied for the weekend
Men's Varsity vs Everman

1-22-2011 Self declared Tournament Champions.  The Hawks keep the weekend perfect with a 3-0 victory over Everman.  Sean, John and the defense kept the ball out of the net the entire weekend.
All 24 fans were treated to a beautiful afternoon of sun and soccer.
The first goal of the afternoon was Rooney unassisted.
After a three week bout with the flu, Enrique was able to display his mad soccer skills and dribbled around the goalie for the second goal of the first half.
The Hawks were still not through scoring when Alex used his hat holder to get a ball up in the air towards the wide open net.  An Everman defender tried to save the goal but the end result was still a goal.  Hawks up 3-0.
The start of the second half saw the hawks dominate possesion and pass the ball nicely.  As hard as they tried, the boys were not able to add to the lead and the most memorable part was Alex taking a cleat to the chin.  No foul was called however. John kept his streak alive by colliding with the third attacking forward this season.  He has been on the winning side twice and tied one.

Men's Varsity Look Good vs Brewer

1-17-2011 Hawks show some muscle in the 5-0 win over Brewer Bears. 3:02 left in in the first half Kenny scored on nice pass from Jordan up the middle of the defense.  Kenny then finished with a pooch over top of a charging Brewer goalie. Sean closed out the first half allowing no goals.  33:58 remaining in the second Rooney connected with Jordan this time for goal number two.  30:33 to go in the second half, Rooney fed Noberto off a corner kick for goal number three.  28:33 another corner kick had Rooney send the Ball to Kenny's forehead. The ball hit funny and landed at Cesear's foot.  He sent the ball to the upper right corner of the goal.  Last goal of the game 11:20 remaining, Kenny juked the Brewer goalie with mind meld.  This caused him to drop the ball.  Austin took full advantage of his limited offensive chances by kicking the ball into the waiting net.  John was able to catch up to all the Brewer shots, he even was able to deliver one of his own on a charging player.

Men's Varsity vs Arlington Hts

1-21-2011 After a disappointing cancelation Thursday, the Hawks were able to get back on track in their quest for a district championship.  The Aledo tournament has turned into a two game tune up.  No champs will be announced.  (I think they were afraid of us )

In the first half the Hawks were feeling out the opponent.  With 8 seconds left in the first half, Tyler had felt enough and took advantage of a nice pass from Rooney.  He dribbled by the last defender and poked a well aimed shot into the far side lower corner.  With that the hawks took a 1-0 lead into the half.

The second half was setup to be a goal onslaught.  Arlington Heights had different plans.  Then after 23 minutes Tyler scored again, "heck yeah". The Hawks were on their way to another win.

For the first time in three games Kenny was held to no goals.

Northside Takes Round Two
01/29/11 - With the number 4 proudly displayed on their shoulders, the Birdville Hawks came out to take the tournament championship in honor of their former teammmate.  Fort Worth Northside had other plans and scored the only goal they would need less than fifteen minutes into the match.  Their team speed accounted for the breakaway goal and they eventually added two more by the same MO to close out the Hawks 3-0.

Hawks Show Their Heart

01/27/11 – Things didn’t start the way Coach Garcia wanted for his Hawks, but the results made a statement in this high intensity early season matchup.  A couple early unfortunate scenarios stymied the Hawks’ attack for a bit, but those and a couple Northside first half goals were not going to keep Birdville down for long.  The Steers drew first blood at the 22:00 minute mark on a breakaway for the 1-0 lead.  Only 9:20 later Birdville seemed to have one of the Northside attackers at bay when he spun ripped off a shot from 35 out that barely found its way under the crossbar to take a 2-0 advantage.  Despite the Steers’ persistence, the Hawks held them scoreless to go into the half down by two.  Birdville had the run of play for most of the early second half, spurred on by some excellent defense from Isaac Villalobos and Alex Becerra and great ball movement through the midfield by Tyler Wagley, Anthony Bardon, Andrew Miller and Enrique Rangel.  It took Birdville 16:51 into the second half to finally strike paydirt when Wagley got a small opening along the left wing and took a pass from Bardon in the center of the field.  Wagley got by his defender with two quick touches and returned the ball to Bardon streaking into the box for the one touch score to make it 2-1.  Only 0:35 later, Miller set the ball down for a corner and drove one towards the near post that found the head of a waiting Rangel who snuck it by the Steer keeper to knot the score at two.  Each team had a couple chances late, but both defenses stepped up at the right time to end the game in a tie.  Birdville returns to the field tomorrow afternoon for game two against Azle.

LETS KICK IT

After an impressive showing against 5A LD Bell that gave the Hawks a 1-0 victory in their first scrimmage of the 2011 season and a Cancer Awareness Day victory over Eastern Hills, the time has come to get this party started.

Coach Garcia has a playoff experienced team returning that doesn’t just hope they can win, but knows they can win!

Birdville returns some key leadership on both offense and defense.  2010 All-District F/M Tyler Wagley and district Co-MVP F/M Anthony Bardon should give the Hawks two of the best up top players in the district.  Alex Bacerra, also a 2010 All-District performer returns for his junior year as Captain and will anchor a defense that includes another Senior in Sean O’Connor in goal for the Hawks. Sophomore MF Enrique Rangel is back after an outstanding Freshman campaign that saw him awarded district Co-Freshman of the Year in 2010.

Play gets started on Thursday, 1/13/11 at 2:00 against another Region 1 team; Wichita Falls at Northwest ISD Stadium and district play begins with a 7:00pm contest at Keller Timber Creek on February 1st.  The JV boys crank it up 1/15/11 also with a tournament at Denton Ryan.  Game times are not yet available.
