Sarah Powers-Barnhard (PVC Director)

Coach Sarah comes with a well decorated resume.  She started her career with the nationally ranked club program Sports Performance in Chicago, Illinois. While playing, Coach Sarah traveled to Germany, Japan and Canada.

Powers-Barnhard went on to earn a scholarship to Division 1 Western Michigan where she competed in the NCAA tournament Elite 8 losing to UCLA to go to the Final 4. Coach Sarah was named an NCAA All American in 1985 and that summer was picked to travel to China and Japan representing the United States.

An accomplished Outside Hitter who was named First Team All-MAC in 1984-85 and Second Team All-MAC in 1983, Barnhard was part of Broncos teams that went 70-0 in the MAC and won four MAC Championships, appeared in four NCAA tournaments and achieved an overall record of 110-22.

Powers-Barnhard graduated WMU with school records for kills (1,387), digs (964), and points (1725.5), and her total of 173 career service aces still stands as the school record. In 1994, she was one of seven Broncos named to the All-Decade team, and she was inducted into the WMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.

From 1987-1989 Coach Sarah Played professionally for the Major League Volleyball Association’s Chicago Breeze. Additionally, Powers-Barnhard has over 25+ years of competitive Beach Volleyball experience. 

Coach Sarah was inducted into the Mid American Conference Hall Of Fame 6/1/2016 as the first volleyball player to be inducted.


 

 

Emily Strack (Assistant Director/Head Coach)

A Fort Lauderdale local, Emily Strack has several years of playing and coaching experience. 
She played five years of college volleyball: Two years of indoor/beach volleyball at the State College of Florida-Manatee in Sarasota (2009-2011) and three years of indoor & beach at University of North Florida (2011-2014).

At SCF she was named on first team sun-coast conference team both her freshman and sophomore year as the starting setter/RS. Won the Fiesta on Siesta beach volleyball nat'l tournament her freshman year with AVP newcomer Aurora Newgard-Davis.

She transferred to division I University of North Florida (2011-2014). Was a Setter for the indoor team from (2011-2013) and played beach volleyball her 5th year of eligibility. Her junior year Strack was selected to represent UNF at the NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship as one of the top 18 sand volleyball pairs in the nation. UNF won the Atlantic Sun Sand Volleyball Championship her junior, senior and 5th year senior. Her senior year, UNF finished ranked as the number 6 team in the nation. Emily earned first team all-conference her junior, senior year and 5th year as well as 2-time pair of the week.

 

Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Science of Communications in Marketing in 2014. Currently is attending graduate school at UNF. In 2014, she was the JV head and Varsity assistant for University Christian Highschool. Most recently, she became the Fletcher high school coach, where her 2015 varsity team made it to a sweet sixteen 7a state championship finish. In addition, she is in her second year as the graduate beach volleyball coach for the University of North Florida and the current setting coach for PVC.

Emily is the Assistant Director of PVC as well as one of our strongest Head Coaches!


 

 Kristy Schmieder (Jaeckel)

Kristy is a Littleton Colorado native who started playing volleyball at Front Range Volleyball Club (Colorado) and was brought to Florida to play for the University of Florida Gators (2007-2011). Throughout her career, she had many great accomplishments, such as:

Finishing her time at Florida with an Elite 8 appearance in 2011, Kristy started her professional volleyball career.

Madison Hatcher

Madison Hatcher, a Kentucky native, joined the Powers Volleyball Club staff in 2013. Hatcher graduated from The University of North Florida in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and was an outside hitter for the UNF Volleyball team for four years.

At UNF, Madison was an outside hitter all four years of college. Her freshman year, she helped the team to the NCAA's first ever sand volleyball conference championship and following that year, she was a part of the team that made it to the conference championship for indoor volleyball. Hatcher was voted as one of the captains her senior season and served as the Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Council for three years of her college career.

Hatcher attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky, and played for Thoroughbred Elite Volleyball Alliance where she started as an outside hitter all four years. She earned Second Team All-State honors as a high school senior and received First Team honors as a junior. She was named first team All-District and All-Region for three years and became the first player at Dunbar High School to reach the 1,000 kill mark, ending her career with 1,035.Hatcher was named a Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) Player to Watch and she helped the team earn a regional title as a senior and reached the state Final Four during her sophomore season.

Madison currently teaches fifth grade English and Language Arts at Kernan Trail Elementary and is the Varsity Assistant Coach at The Bolles School.

Adam Ray Lee is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM CES). Lee attended the University of North Florida where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, while assisting in the management of the Osprey men's basketball team. Lee has worked with a variety of clients ranging from weight loss where he's had clients lose as much as 100lbs, youth where he's taught kids the importance of moving properly and efficiently, and athletes of all levels where he's gotten their body ready for competition. His life and training motto is never give up and he instills that attitude into everyone he trains.


 

Mark McGiveron

Coach Mark began his playing career in Warwick, Rhode Island as a varsity middle hitter for Pilgrim High School, earning All-Division honors his senior year. He was able to continue his playing career at the collegiate level for Jacksonville University's men's club team. While with the Dolphins, Mark played setter and right-side. He was able to face off against some of the top club teams in the Southeast - Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, and Daytona Beach CC, to name a few.

Most recently, Mark was named Head Coach of the Fletcher High School (Neptune Beach) Varsity program. He coaches the Senators with another PVC coach, Emily Strack. In their first season together, Fletcher finished 24-5 overall and earned a Sweet 16 finish in Class 7A.

Prior to Fletcher High School, Mark coached from 2002-2009 with the Fletcher Middle School team, winning three Eastern Division titles during that timeframe.

Coach McGiveron currently teaches Geometry Honors at Fletcher Middle School in Jacksonville Beach. He has an awesome wife, Lynn, and 8-year-old twins, Andrew and Lindsay. McGiveron also just celebrated his 11-year remission anniversary from leukemia in November of 2015.


 

Kayleigh Spratt

Kayleigh has years of playing and coaching volleyball experience coming to Jacksonville from Oregon and California.

Most recently Kayleigh was the assistant volleyball coach at Southern Oregon University, in Ashland Oregon, where she helped guide the SOU Radiers to a 5th place national ranking in 2011 and a 30-6 conference record the past two seasons.  In Ashland, Kayleigh also coached for the Mocean Volleyball Club teams ages 13-18.

Spratt has coached many club teams, beginning with the Mustangs Volleyball Club 14s, a Southern California start-up club, from 2005-06 as well as Club X Volleyball 16 Premier Southern California team in 2007.  She led the Northern California based Absolute Volleyball Club 13s, 15s and 16s teams from 2008-11.

Kayleigh graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2008 with a BA in Kinesiology Pre-Physical Therapy and a minor in Biology. She played volleyball all four years for the Toros, finishing her career ranked sixth in program history in career assists. Kayleigh played her club volleyball for Northern California powerhouses Golden Bear and Empire volleyball clubs. She graduated in 2004 from Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park Ca. where she was a multiple sport letter winner.

Currently, she coaches for Allen D. Nease High School. Welcome Kayleigh, thank you for reinvesting in our youth!


 

Jenn Loeswick

This is Jenn’s 4th year living in Jacksonville with her family. Jenn has 3 kids: Bella, Lilly and Jake. She is married to Steve Loeswik, the UNF Head Volleyball Coach. Jenn is from Virginia. Her volleyball experience includes playing at Virginia Tech for a very long time, coaching there as well as at the University at Albany and Oklahoma. Jenn has coached club since 1994. She worked with different age group from U12 to U18. Jen said that coaching is her favorite job. She is looking forward to her first season with PVC!

 


 

Abbey Barnhard

Abbey Has played volleyball competitively since she was 9 years old.
For 4 years, she was a starter at Ponte Vedra Highschool as an outside hitter.  She played "open" level club volleyball at Beaches Volleyball Academy and Powers Volleyball Club.
Abbey earned a volleyball scholarship to play at Florida State College of Jacksonville.
She Played at PVC for 2 years and has coached at PVC for 2 years.  In 2015, she coached PVC U12 Black team. She also coached during the Mini-club season.
In 2016, Abbey will coach the U12 Black and the U14 Black teams.


 

Jessica Clifton

Jessica was born and raised here in Jacksonville, FL.  She attended and played at University Christian School. After high school she went on and played 2 years, as middle hitter, at FSCJ.

She has been coaching at University Christian since 2012, assisting with all 4 teams: Development Middle School, Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity.

In addition to coaching at University Christian, she also started coaching club volleyball in 2012, coaching U12, U16, and U17 level teams.


 

Erin Edwards

Erin Edwards is from Arlington, Texas. She is currently a sophomore Middle Blocker attending the University of North Florida majoring in Computer Science. Prior, she played club ball at Texas Advantage Volleyball (TAV).

Erin began her career at TAV during her junior year of high school. She played club ball only two years but quickly fell in love with the game. Both 17s and 18s year her teams qualified for Nationals winning Lone Star her 17s year.

Erin was a three sport athlete at Juan Seguin High School playing basketball, track, and volleyball. She lettered in all 3 sports by her sophomore year. Erin was a First-Team All-District selection and Juan Seguin’s MVP as a senior. Named Second-Team All-District as a junior, she led Juan Seguin to a district championship that year. She also played basketball and competed in track and field helping Juan Seguin to back-to-back basketball district championships during sophomore and junior seasons. Erin was ranked among the top 300 players to watch by Premier Basketball Report as a sophomore and received Second-Team All-District for basketball as a junior. She also ran on the 4x200-meter relay team that reached the regional finals.


 

 Amanda Weglicki

Amanda Weglicki was raised in Jacksonville, FL. She attended Bishop Kenny High School where she played volleyball and basketball. While playing four years of volleyball for Suzanne Winkler her team made it to the Final Four in state in 2006. 

Out of high school in 2006, Weglicki began coaching for St. Paul’s Catholic School Volleyball program. For the past ten years, preparing these middle school girls for high school volleyball has been a blessing. After an enjoyable first year of coaching, Weglicki returned to her Alma Mater to assist Suzanne Winkler at Bishop Kenny from 2007 – 2009, then returned in 2015, and currently coaches the freshmen team. As an assistant coach to varsity, the team attended four post season trips to the elite 8, final four, and finals in state.

During 2014-2015, Weglicki worked as the 15 Wild assistant coach at Instinct Volleyball Club of Jacksonville. 

Weglicki attended University of North Florida where she played recreational and intramural volleyball, indoor and sand.  She accomplished her Bachelors and Masters degree in Education. 

Weglicki is currently employed in Duval County Schools as a four English and Language grade teacher.  

She is excited to coach her first year with Powers Volleyball Club. 

 

 Brittany Wagner

As an Atlantic Beach native, Brittany is currently a senior at Duncan U. Fletcher High School, and hopes to graduate and attend the University of North Florida during the fall of 2016. Brittany has been trained as an outside hitter through Powers Volleyball, and has also been an outside hitter for Fletcher High School for the past four years. Brittany has developed a passion for volleyball through her 7 years of playing indoor volleyball, as well as her 4 years of beach training. This season, she hopes to inspire younger players and help them cultivate their own admiration and dedication to the sport.

 


 

Tanner Garbutt

Tanner played collegiate volleyball all four years of her undergraduate studies. Two years at Webber International University (NAIA), and two years at The University of North Florida (NCAA Division I). At age 15 she played club for Inland Volleyball Club, and started competing in juniors’ beach volleyball tournaments over the summer. She then went on to play at Timber Creek High School, where her team won the State Championship in 2008.

At Webber International University(NAIA), she competed in the top three pairs of the beach team, and was the starting libero of the indoor team. In 2012, she was named the Lady Warriors Defensive Player of the Year and was awarded The Sun Conference Second Team All Conference, with a total 465 digs averaging 4.7 digs/set finishing second in the conference. Also, she graduated in 2013 with an Associate of Science degree in Sport Business Management.

She then transferred to Division I UNF, where she competed on the Sand Volleyball team. In 2013 she was partnered with Cameron McGuire at the number three seed, earning a winning record for the season; then in 2014 she was paired with Julie Trembly & Tessa Alyman at the number three and two seeds. The Ospreys were the Atlantic Sun in-season Conference Champions in 2013 and 2014.

Tanner graduated in the summer of 2015, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication with a concentration in Advertising. She has several years of coaching experience through UNF, WIU, IVC and TCHS volleyball camps.


 

Karina Hoff

Background: From Eustis Florida, went to Eustis High school and graduated in 2013. Made the varsity team 2009-2013 for her high school. Played for Top select 17s and 18s year. Was a middle until senior year then transitioned to rightside.

2015 (junior) Finished season with 267 kills. Named First team all conference for the Atlantic Sun Conference. Also name player of the week during preseason from accomplishing 4.2 kills/set average that week, named MVP in Mayo Courtyard Classic, and from recording 20+ kills in 2+ matches that week. Has also played sand volleyball for UNF 2013-current.

2014 (sophomore): Played in 23 matches, starting in nine… played in 86 sets… tallies 155 kills… had eight matches with at least 10 kills… registered a season-best 13 kills twice… recorded 13 kills against Nicholls State (Sept. 19)… added 13 kills in a five-set victory at Kennesaw State (Nov. 1)… had six matches with 3.0+ blocks, including three matches with at least 5.0 blocks… made a career-high eight blocks in a five-set thriller against Lipscomb (Nov. 7).

2013 (freshman): Appeared in all 30 matches, starting in 16… played in 91 sets… notched 150 kills and 64 total blocks… tallied a career-high 15 kills in a five-set match at Kennesaw State (Oct. 5), hitting .464 in that match while making 6.0 blocks… made a career-high 7.0 blocks at Florida A&M (Sept. 10)… recorded 10 kills at Florida A&M… hit over .400 in three matches, including .714 in the season-finale at USC Upstate (Nov. 16)… tallied 5.0-or-more total blocks in three matches.
