Florida Elite Volleyball Club was originally founded as the Volusia Volleyball Club in 1992. It then evolved into Daytona Beach Juniors. In 1998, Daytona Beach Juniors was acquired by Embry Riddle and became a USAV only club. In 2001, it was decided that there needed to be more opportunities for everyone to play volleyball, so Florida Elite Volleyball Club was then formed as an AAU club with the goal of building our players so that we could compete in USAV and get our kids playing at the next level and earn the opportunity to play in college on scholarship.
The mission of Florida Elite Volleyball is to provide young ladies the chance to play volleyball in a competitive and nurturing environment where they will build their skills to play at the next level, moving on to play in college if they so desire. Young ladies from the ages of 6 to 17 are given the opportunity to play. Benefits include improving their skills for high school and beyond, scholarship opportunities for college, and a great social experience.
Even with recent changes in our administration, the goals of Florida Elite has not changed:
1. We want our kids from 10's on up to 18's to be learning and doing the same things. We want them to play at the highest level they can.
2. We want our coaches to grow and be stronger in their abilities.
3. We want to develop fitness training for our players
4. We want more opportunities for our players to earn a scholarship for college.
5. We want to find a permanent home for our club.
Florida Elite Volleyball is based out of Volusia County, but it also serves Flagler County as well. Practices are at various sites throughout Volusia County twice a week. Tournaments are played twice a month starting in January. Most tournaments are one day tournaments. The Regional play-offs are held at the end of April.
The director of Florida Elite Volleyball is Cara Swayze. She is responsible for coordinating practices, tournaments, coaches, and teams. This year Florida Elite Volleyball will hope to field a 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, and 10 and under team for competition.
