2004 LCFL CHAMPIONS - vs. Warminster Colts
2004 LA CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
2004 DIVISION CHAMPIONS
HISTORY
The Frankford Chiefs was originally, The Northeast Mustangs, jokingly known as “The Mustard Stains” and members of the DelVal League. It began in 2001-2002 season in Brookhaven, PA. Although we were from Brookhaven, our home field was at Claymont Middle School’s field in Claymont, DE. The late Delano Plater was Head Coach and Lorenzo O’Branty was Assistant Coach. John, Clayton, and Dougie were also coaches for offense and defense. The Mustangs’ colors were powder blue, navy blue and white. In the Mustang’s first season, they made it to the playoffs, but lost in the first round to the Northwest Giants with only eighteen men! In their second season, the Mustangs lost to the Warminister Colts in the first round of the playoffs.
In 2003-2004, the Mustangs received an invitation to join the LaBelle Community Football League (LCFL). They accepted the offer. After Delano’s passing in early 2004, Lorenzo O’Branty became Head Coach and part owner along with Kelly Plater. Since the Mustangs were joining a new league, the coaches decided on a new name and colors. They also wanted to resemble The Frankford Chargers. So they came up with The Frankford Chiefs (“Chargers” was already taken by Overbrook at the time.) The new colors became red, gold and white.
In late 2004, the new season with the LCFL began. Coach Lorenzo recruited Matt Giorgio, former Head Coach of the Conshohocken Steelers, as his Offensive Coordinator. Lorenzo played football for him in the past and respected his knowledge of the game. John, Clayton and Dougie remained on board along with Rasheed and Don. Together along with some of the most amazing players in Philadelphia, the Chiefs had a tremendous season. They dominated the league with a 9-1 season record. The highlight of the season was their overtime win against the 2003 DelVal Champions, the Northwest Giants. The Chiefs won their first round in the playoffs against the Saints and their second round against the West Oaklane Panthers. The Championship game was against the Warminster Colts, who also had a great season record. It was a snowy, frigid day on an icy field, the day after Christmas. However, the Chiefs continued to show why they belonged in the Championship and won the title with a score of 18-8. Commissioner Pierre Paul and the Award-Winning Performer, Ms. Patti LaBelle, presented the LaBelle Trophy. The Chiefs are the FIRST LCFL CHAMPIONS of its league and is expecting to defend their title in 2005.

Always remembered...Never forgotten!
2005 LCFL CHAMPIONS - vs. Philly Outlawz
2005 LA CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
2005 DIVISION CHAMPIONS
The Chiefs defended their title and defeneded it well. They have earned Back to Back in a season that held many uncertainies. The Claymont Bucs and the Philly Outlawz held the number one spot throughout the entire season. Our offensive coordinator resigned after the first game and many of our key players were injured. However, the coaches and players began working together and pulled it together just in time. The Chiefs won 9 games in row after their last loss. The Chiefs knew that they had to prove they were still contenders, although they were not the #1 seed. It was not an easy task. But in the end, the Chiefs are champions again.
This season was dedicated to #9 Darnell Booth, who was shot during an attempted robbery the day of our weigh in. He was an excellent defensive player and was one of those who had the most interceptions in 2004. It was also dedicated to Coach John who lost his father and #32 Victor Glover who suffered a broken leg in the playoffs. The Chiefs ended the season with a 10-2-1 record and will be defending their title in 2006.
2006 DIVISION CHAMPS
2006 FIRST ROUND PLAYOFFS
The Frankford Chiefs kicked off their first year in their new league the Independent Football League (IFL). They were not able to capture the championship this year losing to the Liberty Patriots in the first round of the playoffs. This year the Chiefs were not in sync and were bewildered as they watched the championship game between the Claymont Buccaneers and the Liberty Bell Patriots. The Buccs finally took it home with a score of 12-0. This year the Chiefs had a lot of new and younger players with a mixture of some veterans. Let's see if the team can gel better in 2007.
2007 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Frankford Chiefs ended the season in third place with a record of 10-2-0. With coaching staff making some improvements, the Chiefs made it deeper into the playoffs but lost to the York City Tigers with a score of 13-6. Everyone was sure of the Chiefs getting a win since they had already beat them during the regular season. However, the Tigers thought otherwise. Also in the biggest game ever, the Chiefs had to go without their starting quarterback due to a basketball injury. Hoepfully, in 2008 the Chiefs will make the necessary changes and win their third championship ring.
2008 IFL CHAMPIONS - vs. Claymont Buccaneers
2008 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
The Chiefs are back! They swept through the league and won yet another chip. For years people were waiting for a championship against two of the top two teams of the city. That day had finally come. The Chiefs had NEVER beaten the Buccaneers at home. However, they pulled it off and shut them down to zero points on the board.
As the league expands, the competition is expected to be at its highest. Let's see if they can get yet another back-to-back championship.
