AG Wave is proud to promote our sport both on the field and off. Through a variety of initiatives, we strive to share our love of the game with those in the NYC community.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Asphalt Green offers scholarships for all of our fee-based programs so that New Yorkers of all backgrounds can get fit and healthy. For some, this means being able to participate in our Summer Day Camp program; last year, over $60,000 were awarded to bring the fun, friendship and fitness of our Camp to a diverse group of children. For others, scholarships provide access to our soccer programs, senior fitness, or hydrotherapy. In total, over 186 scholarships were awarded last year.

COMMUNITY SPORTS LEAGUE (CSL)
Whether we consider ourselves athletes today, most people remember playing sports as children and the valuable lessons they learned. Sports serve as an opportunity to teach leadership and teamwork, build self-esteem and confidence, and understand how to win and lose. In New York, children from low-income neighborhoods have limited access to organized sports and opportunities to exercise. As a result, over 40% of New York children are overweight. But they are also missing out on the important lessons that sports teach.
Asphalt Green’s Community Sports Leagues (CSL) brings the benefits of sports to over 500 children each year. Throughout the year, children participate in soccer, football, basketball, and softball getting instructional time as well as a positive, competitive playing time.
All of our coaches model the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)approach, attending PCA workshops to ensure a great experience for every child. The PCA promotes teaching life lessons through positive coaching, honoring the game and eliminating the “win at all cost” mentality. Using this system, Asphalt Green’s Community Sports Leauges bring children the benefits of organized, competitive sports in an environment that promotes learning over winning.
RANDALL'S ISLAND KIDS FOUNDATION
To address the needs of local children, and to take advantage of the unique open space, fields and facilities at Randall’s Island Park, Asphalt Green provides a full service soccer program as part of the Randall’s Island Sports Foundation (RISF). RISF programs are offered free of charge to more than 14,000 children, and are run in close partnership with more than 120 local public schools and community-based organizations in Harlem and the South Bronx. PASSBACK - Share the Equipment. Share the Game!
Asphalt Green Wave has partnered up with Passback, an initiative of the US Soccer Foundation, to collect your gently used equipment. All equipment will then be donated to local youth organizations that are in need of equipment so they can play the game we all love!
