COLONELS IN THE PROS

Tim Grogan
Tim Grogan was a member of the Colonels in 2001 and 2002. Tim was originally drafted out of high school in the 47th round by the Chicago White Sox. Tim opted to attend Western Kentucky University and was drated again in the 2005 by the New York Mets. Tim spent two years in the minor leagues where injuries finally caught up with him. Tim has since recovered and is currently playing for the Florence Freedom in the Frontier League.

Jay Johnson
Jay played for the Colonels in 2001 and 2002. Jay was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 13th round of the 2005 draft after a very successful college career at Xavier University in Cincinnati. He played for the Greenville, Wilmington, Lancaster, and Portland affiliates of the team. For his career, Johnson is a .273 hitter with 27 HR's, 18 of which came in 2006 with 3 different teams. He also has 202 RBI's and has played in 324 career games. Johnson spent 2008 with the Portland Sea Dogs where he hit .256 with 10 RBI's in 12 games with the team. He walked 7 times compared to only 3 strikeouts and had an on-base percentage of .340.

Jay is currently playing with the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League.


Graham Taylor
Graham was on the Colonel's 2001 and 2002 teams. After high school he enjoyed a very successful career with Miami of Ohio. In 2006 Graham was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 10th round. Graham was called up to the majors and got his first major league start on Sunday, April 26 vs. the world champion Phillies. Graham is currently pitching with the Marlin's AA affiliate, Jacksonville Suns.


Chris Curley
Chris Curley is currently playing for the Danville Braves, an Atlanta Brave's affiliate. Chris played for the Colonels in 2005 and 2006 before going on to Campbellsville University where he enjoyed a very successful 3 years and this past year he was named Player of the Year in the Mid South Conference. He finished the year with a .403 batting average blasting 18 home runs, while tallying 64 RBI.
