Coach – John GearyJV Head
Coach – Reggie Blaisdell
Player expectations:
1.Be
academically eligible
2.Be
responsible on and off the baseball field
3.Be
at practice every day prepared and on time. Players are expected to adjust
their schedules to meet team needs.
4.Check
the website regularly. Any postponements or cancellations will be posted
promptly. Phone calls will not be made. If a player does not have access to the
internet he must make arrangements with another player to keep updated.
5.Be
coachable, come to practice ready to learn each day. What you get out of
practice is directly related to what you put into it.This will be how you earn playing time.
6.Playing
time is earned through attitude, effort and ability.Do not come to practice or games with an
entitlement mindset.
7.Communicate
with the coaching staff about injuries, schedule conflicts and concerns about
your role on the team.
8.Keep
yourself physically and mentally ready to compete.
9.Develop
appropriate individual and team goals for the season and off-season.
Parent expectations:
1.Support
the team, but leave the coaching to the coaches. Coaching from the sideline is
disruptive.
2.Parental
input on playing time will not be considered.
3.Coaches
will only discuss playing time, position and team placement with players. If
you really feel the need to talk with us, wait 24 hours then call and set a
time that we can sit down and talk. We will never discuss these issues on the
field.
4.Check
the website regularly. All information about the varsity team will be posted
there. This includes directions to all of our opponent’s fields.
5.Make
arrangements prior to game day if your son will not ride the team bus home from
any game. The proper procedure is to get written approval from the Athletic
Director 24 hours prior to departure. This is for liability reasons. If
something unexpected occurs you need to write and sign a note so the coach has
a written record of the change in your son’s travel plans.
Expectations of the coaching staff:
1.Be
on time and prepared for practice and games.
2.Provide
opportunities for player development.
3.Stay
informed of the latest techniques and issues regarding baseball.
4.Educate
players about district training rules as well as performance enhancing drug issues.
5.Give
appropriate feedback to players regarding skill development, attitude and
effort.
6.Make
players aware of their role on the team and what needs to be done to improve or
maintain that spot.
7.Review
player goals, provide feedback and opportunity for each player to work on their
goals.
8.Communicate
any changes in schedule. This will be done through the website.
9.To
use baseball as an opportunity to teach and develop life skills.
