All Metro/Select Teams
Metro (or Select) is a level of soccer between recreational and competitive. The league offers an environment for dedicated and skilled players to develop and play. Metro is classified as a Class III youth soccer league. (Recreational teams are Class IV. Competitive teams are Class I.) Metro teams are typically stronger than even ‘A’ division recreation teams. In Metro league play, you may play teams from Fairfield to El Dorado Hills to Elk Grove to Roseville. The greatest difference between recreation and select is the opportunity for tournament play. Tournaments can give kids a chance to play in 20-35 games a year, instead of just 10.
The teams and coaches listed below are currently playing for SYSL in the District 6 Metro League. Players who are interested in a higher level of play may contact any of the Metro coaches for information about next year’s season. Most of these teams will return to Metro next season and may have openings for new players. Prospective players may tryout for any Metro team, even if the team is not in their home club.
For the first time, Under 10 SYSL teams have been allowed to play in Metro. Please note that Under 10 players may not play up on an Under 12 Metro team. There are also additional restrictions on hours of practice and total number of games that U10 teams may play.
NEW METRO TEAMS
SYSL uses a “core team” system through which a recreation team may take a core of existing players and add new players through tryouts. SYSL Metro teams are not created from scratch through open tryouts.
Head coach must have "E" License, Assistant coach must have "F" License and one must be a certified referee. Coaches will have to provide proof of these certifications each year registering their team. No Exceptions!
