    ST. PETER'S LACROSSE & MYLA
    ST.PETER'S LACROSSE, OLNEY, MARYLAND
The goals of the lacrosse program in the St. Peter's Athletic Association (SPAA) are to provide a safe, educational, fun, and competitive environment for the youth of the parish and the members of the athletic association in the greater Olney area. St. Peter's Lacrosse (SPL) offers five levels of youth lacrosse for girls and boys age 5-14. St. Peter's lacrosse has over 400 girls and boys ages 7-14 participating in the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA) league with teams throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area.

St. Peter’s lacrosse players have more fun, because they love the game, because they are committed to learning how to play it well, and because they’re constantly learning from excellent coaches who respect and develop them as players. St. Peter’s lacrosse coaches teach the players both the basic and advanced aspects of lacrosse so they can have fun and take their game to the next level.

At St. Peter’s lacrosse, we learn to play and play to learn. Everyone loves to win and to play on a winning team, and St. Peter’s teams often have excellent season records. We believe that we win by enabling individuals to become the best players they can be, and by teaching individual players to play better as a team. The final score in any game matters less than whether the players gave their individual best, the team worked as well as it could as a team, and we learned some ways we can be a better team tomorrow than we were today.

ST. PETER'S LACROSSE & MARYLAND YOUTH LACROSSE ASSOCIATION (MYLA)
Since 1998 St. Peter's Lacrosse has been a member of the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA), also referred to as the Baltimore league. This league allows us to participate with a multiple number of teams that we cannot do anywhere else. Thus enabling our team size to remain small and the kids playing time remain high. It is also the only well-organized girls league available in the area. This league offers playing levels for players of all abilities (AA, A, B, and C). This gives the kids a chance to improve, succeed, be sufficiently challenged and have fun. It also provides the very best in referees and league organization. Many consider the MYLA the best youth lacrosse league in the country.

    MARYLAND YOUTH LACROSSE ASSOCIATION (MYLA)
The purpose of the MYLA is to provide the participants with the fundamental skills required to play lacrosse and to promote the spirit and sportsmanship of the game of lacrosse. The rules of play that have evolved to govern games sanctioned by the MYLA have been the direct result of input from numerous dedicated individuals over the years. The goal of each of these individuals has been to structure a framework of game regulations that would ensure a safe environment in which to conduct lacrosse games while, at the same time, offer an opportunity for all participants to enjoy the traditional challenges of the sport of lacrosse. We believe that the current rules governing MYLA games do, in fact, satisfy these goals. Of equal importance, are the attitudes, purposes and conduct that we adults bring to the sport. Our primary job is not only to create an atmosphere of learning, enjoyment, and good sportsmanship for all of the youths who decide to participate in the MYLA but to complete our obligation by conducting ourselves in a manner that reinforces the high standards that we expect the players to sustain. We believe that the most effective method to achieve our goals is to remember that the opposing coaches and the officials are actually engaged in a partnership which is dedicated to providing the players with a quality experience. Working together, we can easily attain the goals that we often fall short of if we work individually.
