The breakdown for the day was as follows: 24 kids placed, 12 with gold medals, 7 with silver, 2 with bronze and 3 with 4th place finishes. Our overall team record was again outstanding going 55-25 (for a 69% overall winning percentage). But by eliminating the inter-squad matches that occurred, the team was 42-12 (for a 78% winning percentage, again this was another season best). The middle school wrestlers were an unbelievable 25-5 against other schools, while the elementary boys were 17-7 against other schools. Herrin Invitational 12/4
WOW! What a great day! With 22 boys making the trip to Illinois, this was the most number of boys that have ever gone up to Herrin wearing the Purple & Gold. And with that, the boys made another great showing, going 31-34 in one of the best tournaments of the year. With that, the 10 & under boys went 14-13 with 2 gold medals, 2 silver and 2 bronze. The 11 and up boys went 17-21 and grabbing 2 gold medals, 5 silver and 5 bronze. The gold medallists for this weekend were Colin, Brandon, Kaleb and Ray. Congratulations boys, you all made us very proud. Coach Brian had this to say about our kids. "Very, very proud of our kids, everyone competed...no one gave up. You just don't see kids with that kind of character everyday and it is hard to see it in other sports." - Thanks Coaches for a great job, your work and dedication to these boys is very much appreciated. Congratulations to the Wave Wrestlers, you now have a season record of 214-107.
