Scrimmage rules
Here are the rules governing scrimmages as set by NYSPHSAA. The scrimmage list is under Online Forms.
A basketball scrimmage must include 10-minute periods (running time), except for timeouts and there are unlimited timeouts. The score will be cleared at the end of each period. Scrimmages must also include one or more of the following:
1. Optional shot clock
2. Shoot only fouls against the shooter with free throws awarded in a one-and-one.
3. At the end of the first and third quarters, each team will run five special plays. Example: out of bounds play underneath the basket, sideline out of bounds.
